I must be really dense cause I can't figure it out. I don't hear any laughter either so I can't follow that lead.
I need a real specific hint I'm afraid.

Go to the room with 4 dressers (with some clothes, a teddybear, a mirror and some other things on them), to the right of the dressers, there is a staircase that leads to the bedroom.

Huh, I had exit problems, too. I killed the seven not-so-deadly sins (boy, Lust can sure hold her breath, can't she? She must have a great pair of lungs!) Then I got the Philosopher's Stone, and Father showed up. Before he could get close enough to spot me, I darted into the dark room with the entrance to the ladder. I snuck around the side of the church and into the back staircases; I picked the Exit Key off of Father, then KO'ed him. I took him down and dropped him into the pool, like three others.
At that point, he began alternately glowing and not glowing; I couldn't frob him, so I have no idea if he was dead or not.
In any case, I went to the only locked door in the joint, opened it, and exited... at which point I was dropped to the desktop with a Message From Microsoft.
Never got to see my stats!
I'll try it again, but -- did I do something wrong?
Edit: It worked all right the second time. Geez, 120 out of 885? Does that count Greed's gold, or did I really miss a treasure-trove of frobbable loot?

Loot - this is one of the bugs mentioned in the briefing. The only loot items you can get are Greed's purse and bracelet.

Greed's purse and bracelet. I can only guess, but shouldn't non-frobable loot objects, like the ones where Greed shows up, have set "Dark Gamesys->Loot" to {0;0;0;None}? Couldn't that solve the bug?

Hmm, guess I never thought of that loot thing...
The crash at the end always happens with me, but no one in the Editor's Guild has a dang clue about how to fix it.

The only idea that comes to my mind on fixing this, is to narrow the cause of the crash by temporarily removing objects/structure out of this mission and check if the crash still occurs.
Also it might help to know on what configuration and with what sort of computers (memory, graphic card and so on) the crashes occur -- and where not. Then
how everybody solved the quests in the mission, in what order and what they did beside of that (like smashing objects, climbing in unusual places etc.), looking for a common pattern. Maybe trying to load saved games from players that didn't get the crash on machines that had crashes before. You say your machine always crashes at the end? Try loading a save game of someone where it didn't and retry.
But in the end you'll possibly find out that you'll need the source code of Thief to find the reason for the crashes. Since the crash occurs at the end of the mission I wouldn't spend too much time on solving that issue though.
But maybe you're too curious about that. Then I'd say: after finding any result you should let the community of dromeders know about your findings. This could help others in their missions.
Good luck!
PS: I can send you a save game that is not crashing my computer, along with some specs of my machine if you like.
