the key:

[SPOILER]go under the stairs and find the librarians room, the key is on a table/desk[/SPOILER]

Thanks for a fantastic mission Gaetane! I was in and out of this thread like ... er .. something quite rude. It was one of the great exploring the city levels that I love so much and you did such a great job.
