One more thing - What about the ending of this mission? I couldn't get 1000 loot (OK I got 1003 with the unlucky guy's sword at the canyon but I couldn't figure a way out of there), I got the relic, and there is only one way forward, and a sunny foggy world at the end of a corridor that I can't go in..
Awesome atmosphere (I always dreamed of a Stowaway like mission with many custom textures)
Extremely buggy gameplay
Lazy and heisty mission editing

Hi everyone,
I have some problems.Every 3 seconds freeze this game for second.I think ok maybe is this patch for Geforce 8800 guilty, but i played original thief and FM "THE DEN" from Gaetane and i became no problems.Had you taffers same problem or am I alone here?:(

jmmi: if your game is freezing while you're on some rooftops & trying to look around, try looking down (worked for me from a crouch) and then looking up slowly.
ticky; if you extensively explore the village before you start off for the mines you should have no problem reaching the loot goal. I think that was probably my most favorite part; the ledge and rooftop travel in the village! I also liked the fact that in the village the AI were super-alert - always a welcome challenge.
That sunny corridor is meant to be the end of the game if you've completed all objectives. As far as lazy, hasty editing, I'll have to disagree with you there. From what Quirk posted in this thread it sounds like he tried every which way from Sunday to fix the glitches and bugs, but just didn't have the know-how (ergo: the advice to him to go to the Editor's guild and have his FMs beta-tested).
To all others who had questions about getting back to the upper ledges after finding the cave with the skeleton & loot sword: Quirk answered that question earlier in this thread. He simply forgot to put in the plank that would have aided in the player's return to the main path. Beta-testers would have picked up on that, so here's hoping that Quirk will go on to create another great FM with the help of the Editor's forum. I know it's sometimes a pain to read the entire thread, but a lot of times you'll find that your questions have already been answered prior to your post.
Durinda: yes, TombRaider's controls are much more advanced when it comes to doing the acrobatic stunts (much, much more - at least on the PS versions). I know there've been a few other Thief FMs that have tried to emulate the Lara Croft action, but Quirk's FM is the first (imho) that actually made it 'do-able' considering Thief's controls restrictions.
PD: that's what I thought; another one of those little quirky glitches (meant affectionately, mind you ;) ).
I really do hope Quirk doesn't wait for the DarkMod before contributing another FM for our enjoyment (that might be a long wait and I have the patience of a gnat). As I said before, I'd really like to see a sequel to this one. Soon. (hint, hint) He obviously has the talent and creativity needed to author great FMs.

I think that the city part is way TOO promising! I could even feel the heat of that port city on my skin, also loved the warm colors of buildings. One should expect MUCH MORE from a scene like this, than going down a halfass edited boring mine.
I could have an orgasm if there were a mediterranean manor or a cathedral instead, with small gardens, flies around spice bags, and sunbeams on attics.

I have to agree this is a beautiful mission, but alas i'm stuck. Im in the canyon area, going along the left side of it ive gotten to a place where im supposed to jump onto a ledge with a crate on it but i cant get on it. It won't let me mantle, just kinda hang on the edge. ahhhhhhhhhhhhh:mad:

This FM looks for me like a great marvelous mediterranean city. Great !!! :thumb:
Something like Dubrovnik city...

Thanks everyone for you replies.
I've always tried to pick those environment that don't seem very popular among authors. After seeing thousand of missions that go around garrett stealing mansions or churches, well, I got bored (with exceptions of course). That's why I created the mines, the canyons, the catacombs,
...and I applaud you for that! I have always favored missions that had more of an "adventure" flair over the pure theiving ones that take place in mansions. I love exploring caves, ruins, mines, outdoor environments, etc.
Thanks again for this mission (despite the frustrations) and maybe we'll see some cool stuff from you on Dark Mod!

My arm is sore ... where did all those people come from? The overhead traps were insidiously well hidden ... too bad they didn't take out the haunts. Cool barrel trick. Need a shower after frantically lock-picking that door (there was probably a key for it lying around but I never found it). Could have used a fuller story line and the slippage higher up in various town locations was somewhat annoying but I still had a blast. Thanks.

Thanx, Spoonman / Quirk, I mostly really enjoyed this - so many different aspects & areas kept it very interesting - but I also feel it was a real shame it wasn't fully "sorted" & de-bugged. (if it ever is, I'd replay it immediately!)
Couldn't figure out why some AI in the town attacked each other - although I wasn't complaining :D
And thanx Dia for your idea (I-Dia? :cheeky: ) about the box ledge: couldn't make the jump, but once I got the box right on the relevant edge, it worked first time & I didn't have to pull any more hair out.

AI in the town attacked each other is very interesting - it brings a lot to the atmosphere of the place... moreover attacking started only when I tried to stole something. AI saw me and I hid quickly. AI was not able to find me so AI attacked somebody else... It was VERY interesting. If this is the intence of FM creator, congratulation !!!!
I'm behind the final room with crusade guards in passage open to landscape with white mist. I think it's end of mission. However I'm short of loot, but it's not possible to retrace back to get more loot (passage to the crypt area behind gorge is blocked).
What now ??? :(
