:(
I can't do the pillar jumping. Have tried and tried. Sadly, after many attempts, I have given up.

LHG: I know how you feel but try again the next day to have another go; that's what I did - it's worth it and once past there it's not so hard in my opinion. TIPS:
. some of this may seem obvious, sorry.
. On the balcony make sure you line up aimed at the centre of the block and several paces back.
. Obviously save the game there.
. Long run then jump just before the edge but keep holding down jump key so you mantle up if you get the right spot on the first block. I had to do this 20 times before I got it. Each fail, quickload is faster than running round.
. SAVE on top of the first block. I was wrong before I think I thought that you had to a hop skip and jump but you can do it in stages.
. On this first block I jumped up and down square to make sure I was moving freely and line up near the back edge then saved again.
. Run and almost immediately hit jump and keep holding. I had to do this about 5 or 10 times.
. The last bit is easyish. Good luck.
I take it that
you're supposed to push or pull that block onto the plates to get the Mask, but I don't seem able to get it to move with any of the controls,
and the block "disappears" from many different angles when up close. In fact I can practically walk through it
Is this a bug?

Just finished on normal. Thanks for the interesting mission :thumb: I'll now check on "expert".

No, it's an engine 'feature' - objects that can be moved around have to have physics models that are actually spherical, so that cube is actually a sphere for the purposes of determining collision with other objects and the player. I had a neat rig set up in Beta 1 where the cube was actually a cube, and you could climb on top of it, etc. but unfortunately the way I did it caused a significant amount of SHAS and I deemed that unacceptable.
As for moving it around, you can simply run into it and hold down forward, using the mouse or side move keys gently to stay centered on it. I find looking down at the ground helps, and also helps me know that I'm actually moving. You can also use the shortcut I mentioned above, which is much faster, if you have any timed grenades left.
@ Fidcal et al: I don't know why some people have such trouble doing the jumping-mantling move, I can usually nail them on the first try, especially that first one. The steps you gave are exactly what I do - run, jump at the edge, hold down jump to mantle up. But I know some of my testers had the same experience you did, having to save often and taking 10 or more tries to get it. This is one of those cases where it would be really nice to be able to be in the same room and watch each other.

The thing about pushing that block around is that at times i found it moved quite easily but other times it acted like it was stuck and i had to run into it to get it moving...
I've discovered what could be considered a bug. I had got the mask and then mantled up into the empty alcove where one of the fire platforms had fallen to the ground. Of course the 'guards' had gathered around me. I then 'dropped' one of grenades but it didn't go off! Grenades don't go off if you drop them, you have to throw them... which was a problem because when i threw the grenade at them it would just bounce off them.

That's just the way the engine works. I usually try starting from a foot or two back and running into it. But like I said the trick I gave above using the grenades is easier by far IMO.

That's a bug with the
TimedGrenade script that TNT found in testing, and I need to report it to Telliamed (well I guess I just did if he reads this). The grenades will go off on impact btw if you throw them high enough to fully arm in the air. Try lobbing them up nearly vertical (about 80°) from the alcove so they land just behind the guys crowded around below you.

I think Yandros did a wonderful job adding lots of customised features to make it more of a TR experience, and although this was only mean't as a small offering for xmas, I think it bodes well for the future if he decides to take the customising further and build a full blown TR style mission with more Lara content (without the fake boobies).
*gives Yandros a gentle push towards his DromEd shortcut* :p

A great idea for TombRaider's and Thief's fans (like me). Thank you very much Yandros! :)

Running mantle is not normally any problem. I think the one in question is simply difficult for some because...
. There is no light gem. I realized that for years I had been centering on that without realizing.
. The target is angled with reference to the take off balcony. In two planes as I recall.
. The target has some texture mark down the middle that in the gloom on some setups can be mistaken for the left edge so you might aim for the wrong part.
. Jumping over a wide gap can be hard to judge anyway because you jump blind as you can't (I don't see how) look down but have to look ahead or even up at an angle. I have the same problem in my mission and I kept jumping too late probably after I had just run off the edge. A running jump mantle on level ground is easy.
Most common result - reach each block with jump key held down correctly but fall down slightly left or right or not quite reach (by inches) and fall down at front. In other words, it's not the mantle it is judging the jump to arrive at the exact spot that is the difficulty in my view. The mantle then is automatic if you are holding down the jump key.
. On level ground you can just pull back and retry many times quickly. But in this situation you get hurt and have the choice of running all the way round again else reloading over and over - frustrating.
Any or all the above might make it tough but I would not change it. it is the nature of the mission.
Exact same problem in my mission with pushing - probably worse. Could find no ideal solution.
