Fun so far, you're really good at the rooftop stuff Don.
had to come look at read-me for hints at street level, guess I'm going splunking, later.

Well!! It took me three separate attempts (several weeks to a month apart) at playing this particular FM and finally, on the third I decided to start from scratch. This time I gave in & referred to this thread repeatedly for hints and finally ended up refering to the walkthru. It still took me over three hours to complete this one! I have to say; though I'm one of your biggest fans uncadonego, the frustration level in this one was reminiscent of that in Tomb Raider II, wherein some of the manuevers were damn near impossible and took several (if not more) tries to accomplish. Challenging? Yes, to say the least. But the frustration level rose a little too high at times, which negated what fun I might have been having. I think most taffers like the challenge of being able to figure out the solutions called for in completing any given objective by themselves, and having to repeatedly refer back to this thread or the walkthru was another detrimental factor in fully enjoying this FM. Don't get me wrong; this was definitely a top-notch FM! I honestly LOVE all your FMs!! I just feel that I spent far too much time retracing my steps and running around like one crazed. (I also got tired of repeatedly falling to my death when attempting some of those jumps; I'm vertically challenged enough as it is. :( )
On a more humorous note: on one of my attempts to jump from the white ledge to the Inn roof (towards the end of the FM) I accidentally fell right on the lady guard's head. Don't know who was more surprised! She didn't have to kill me, though, 'cuz I ended up getting squashed by the fall. ;)
Thanks for all your hard work and effort. This was without a doubt an outstanding FM inspite of the frustration.
I definitely look forward to your next one!

I must also leave a comment about a certain jump that most ppl have found more or less fairly difficult...of course it's the one where your on a corner column ledge to try and jump over to the rooftop with the most important chimney. I have tried repeatedly to make that jump and I don't seem to be able to get it done. I just keep missing it so that I end up on the ledge below and have to reload for another try. I'm sorry but I'm usually fairly good at jumping but this one has me stumped. I don't know what I'm not doing right to make it as I'm standing as far back as I can...I'm trying to aim for the buttress accross the way but can't catch it :( I read where it was suggested to use a moss arrow placed over there (even though my arrows are a little short having had to use several for other places) I guess that might have to be my last resort and see if that will help me. I really think that jump should have been placed a little easier to make as I found the others no problem.
Other than that and having to get a few hints for some other things along the way...it has been an interesting game to play, at least as far as I've been able to get so far. :) Wish me good luck
Well I've tried placing a moss arrow at the front edge of the gable so that it would help me grab or give me a bit of a foothold to get up there and then to the roof...nope won't work that way either (after that shot I would have only one moss arrow left) and apparently I need at least a couple moss arrows (one to put near chimney and other for the landing down chimney) so guess I can't waste what I've got. After reading your walkthru a few minutes ago, I also had missed doing certain things regarding the drop-down to basement area and all those additional things to do including the finding of another moss arrow and gas arrow in the ally ways (which I did find after I fell down from jump to rooftop again and had to do some running around). Didn't do me any good then sadly. So I guess the bottom line is I'm going to have to call it a day for this one...I just cannot make that jump! Bummer :(

It's too bad you can't make that jump Eater. If you ever decide to try again, I'll cut and paste what I said in the walkthrough-Back up on the buttress as much as you can, then run and jump directly toward the gable roof over the window in front of you at the Grunder Inn. Look straight ahead. Do not look down where you hope to land.
I'm sorry some people are having such a hard time with the jumping in this one. :(
The Fire Eater on 17/11/2006 at 12:39
Yes, I know how to prepare and how to jump successfully my friend...I just can't seem to make this one for some reason :( As I said, all other jumps made in this game have been no problem...just that one won't work for me. But thanks for the reply anyway and I'll look forward to other FM's you'll be creating :)

Sorry, I just don't understand. I just went into Dromed and did the whole jump sequence twice. I figured maybe it had been so long since I played, it may be difficult for me now, but I did it twice without hesitation or effort. I found the caves in Two Fathers more challenging than this when I replayed it much later.

Again I don't understand why either...I'm moved back as far as I can go...heh..even fell off backwards a couple of times too trying to edge back. That seems to occur when I'm still crouched not when standing..don't know why that happened either? I guess my Garrett shoes are just too heavy :D
