If you're going to criticize a mission, criticize constructively and don't just tell the author, "I couldn't finish this mission because I didn't bother to read your note in the readme, so it belongs in the trash." Just seemed a bit rude to me.
...or did I misunderstand something?

Ahhh....
I think you got it right as far as I can see. I thought you might be upset with me for telling players for the umpteenth time that read me files are written for a reason.:cheeky:
I'm telling you people, there is often some very important stuff in those read me files at the beginning of these missions, eg. under the playing information of this mission it clearly says:
"Make sure you are running the patched version of Thief 2 so that a certain objective works."
As for filling someone in on the ending of a mission on an open forum, it sort of ruins the entire reason for downloading it and playing it for others, spoilers or not.
"One for the bin..." is redundant because by asking for the ending of a mission you've already indicated you won't be replaying it, apparently because life's too short. Perhaps it was just meant as a "screw you then"
shot for not wanting to reveal a surprise ending, thereby reinforcing my feeling that it's not worth all the effort of making more missions for people to rip on them.:)

As I told you in email recently, I just played Thieves' Highway for the first time last week, and it was a thoroughly satisfying experience - one of the bext missions I've played in months. I for one am sad that you've retired, Don, especially if it was only because of how a few uncouth asshats commented on your missions in the past.

Don's missions RAWK!
:thumb:
But I get where Don is coming from. On occasion I get the feeling that a sizable portion of the community takes these gifts for granted. You can't know (and perhaps appreciate fully) what it takes to produce work of Don's caliber unless you've done it.

They do indeed and, in fear of my pc going bang one day, I have 2 copies of all of them on 2 discs.

Is this true?

It's probably an exaggeration... however, I'm pretty sure it had something to do with it. But I should let him speak for himself...
