I missed this earlier but found your problem.

The key you have in your inventory 'Bosses Spare bedroom key' opens the room further down the corridor (the door opposite the blank door where you have dropped a guard), the door you are facing is yes the exit, but that is opened by the exit key which you do not have yet.

Bottom line is you haven't finished the mission yet, so keep going.
