OK, I'm missing something major here playing on “Cutpurse” (Hard) setting. Where the heck is the kid I'm supposed to be rescuing? I think I've cleaned out all the major areas including the big altar room that's guarded by the outrageous number of patrolling guards, activated the lever in the teleport room to raise the big door at the top of the altar room ramps, even raided all the tombs. Where can she be? <img src="confused.gif" border="0">

She should be located on the sacrificial table in the middle of the room, she is smaller since she is a kid, maybe you missed her?

She's definitely not in the altar room; only full-sized cult members in there. I even swam around the water area to see if she had fallen in. I'll restore from an earlier save and try the whole altar room sequence again.

[One 8 minute Thief session later...]
I replayed the sequence starting with bonking/evading the patrolling guards. <blockquote><font size="1" face="Verdana, Arial, sans-serif">Spoiler:</font><div style="background-color:#000080"><font color="#202080">Reconnoitered the altar room from the ground and by teleporting above before engaging and there are only 5 AI's there: 2 guards in the entrance, 2 priestesses and 1 priest.</font></div></blockquote>
I assume this is a bug since previous posts mention problems with interacting with Merimee. I don’t feel like replaying the whole mission since I found parts of it bothersome (4 cops guarding a dead end street??) so would someone please do me the favor of spoiling the ending? This is what I assume happens:

When you get back outside, you will have teh girl following you, but once you get to town you will see that it is over run byt the Brotherhood, any cops you left alive would be dead, that's why you don't have to kill them in teh begining since they will get killed later. So now with the girl following your ever step you need to avoid/kill Brotherhood men, and make it back to where you started from. <img src="eek.gif" border="0">

As for the bug that alot of people have with the girl dissappearing it happened to me too. I think it is because unlike Garret she cannot fit into the secret tiny hole that connects the exit from the brotherhod to the town through which you have to crawl. Because once I went to town after she disappeared on me she magically appeared behind me and started following me.

Something funny does happen to them, I once killed a guy (which is rare for me since I am a knockout freak), and he kinda did explode, there was like a heart left or something, with this blood flying around it, which might have been a bug or not, since I did not try it again cause killing them drew to much attention. <img src="graemlins/erm.gif" border="0" alt="[Erm...]" /> <img src="mad.gif" border="0"> <img src="graemlins/eww.gif" border="0" alt="[Eww...]" />
