The ramps are pretty easy if you make liberal use of your water arrows.

Did use them on all the torches.
The silver at the top of the first ramp seems to feel the wind of my passage by him or something...
And I really would like to see a vid thru of the silver section if anyone would oblige, because I'd love to be able to do it over doing a better job on it than I have so far...

I have the same problem at this area
What if you don't have any
water arrows? Is there a supply around?
Should someone start the level from the beginning if there aren't any?

i got into the silver area with an invisibility potion from the purple controlled library, ran all the way to the blown up work shop.

kamyk: You're doing something wrong in regards to the stairs. Are you walking or running when you're trying to do down them?
Or...are you using crouch in a toggle mode (like in Thief 1)?
But I do agree with you on the inventory shuffling - why couldn't the detonator and the mines be two items side by side in the inventory?
Yandros on 27/5/2009 at 11:43
Because we don't have any control over that. I'd have done it if it were possible, trust me.
Now cue NV to pop in and tell me how to do it...
I don't know what to tell you, kamyk. I had no real problems with the silvers. I went down the stairs with the patroller, and managed to use a mine on him. After that I used mines on most of the guys between there and the room where the leader and icon are. I doused half the torches in his room and used moss arrows to sneak over to the dais and nab the icon and the other stuff without alerting him. Then I headed back, doused most of the torches in the platform area, and made my way down. I was able to sneak past the guy at the top no problem, and also skipped some platforms I think by using the little side stone supports.
Peter Smith needs to pop in here and tell us how to properly ghost this whole area, although I'm quite sure he used several water arrows on the ramps.

I am holding a crouch, and crouch/running down them. When I hit the steps under the light fixtures on either set of stairs it throws me out of the crouch and down the stairs in that wonderful hop hop clatter clatter every Thief player has encountered at some point in their playing experience. I don't see how else to get down either set quickly enough to avoid being spotted without crouch/running. (Not that I have, lol)
Actually I have been thrown into the hop clatter even walking down them...
Perhaps I'll go get the invis potion tomorrow, and use it on the ramps... Bit late in my insomnic evening to do another section atm...
Heh, it's ok Yandros, I'm startng to think my game is buggy, as I also had the hyper sensitive golds at the beginning, and many people haven't.

Stairs to the basement: I went down the one with the patrolling Silver. I went down slowly until I could see the lower half of his body as he patrolled past the stairwell entrance. He did not see me. Just as he passed the stairwell opening I went down the rest of the way and scooted into a darker section of hallway and proceeded from there. It also helps to go down stairs sideways and/or at an angle to keep from hopping or running down them.
The ramps: I used rope arrows and the stone ledges to get down and back up the ramps. Needed only one water arrow.

In the cathedral I kept getting caught by the reds, and as I read that the silvers were considered 'invincible' I decided to lure a couple of up from the basement to help me out - I forgot that they were meant to be allied. Eventually I got them to wipe out all the red team on the ground floor. Not very stealthy, but it worked!
I read that only the black and gold leaders knew how to deal with the silvers, so I passed through the silver area to see if I could lure some black team members up to deal with them. I realised this wasn't possible when I saw that the catacombs and the basement were joined by a ladder. I got down the main stairway thing by using the ramps and the stone supports. By the time I'd come back up from the catacombs I had a whole load of mines so I was able to deal with the silvers fairly easily.
