Sorry you didn't like it, Jediron. Not every mission will appeal to every one. However, I will say that climbing the waterfall is not at all required and in fact we tried to make it harder as it wasn't the planned gameplay route, but some taffers managed to do it anyway (in fact it's easy when you know how).

The beginning can be quite tricky. Depending on where the gold guys end up after fighting the blue ones, they can be hard or even impossible to sneak by. Did you get them to fight the lone blue guy you first meet? Did you find the light switch in the room where the two gold guys are?
I recommed you keep at it, it's well worth it, IMO. Finding the blackjack is such a huge reward in this mission, and it's a lot more enjoyable after that point, I think.

Omg, never seen the light switch. Now it is so much easier...lol.
Lost half my life, going over that electric wire..though. Figured out the gas chamber, with luck. That is a shame, Garret should not rely on luck, but skill.
But it seems jumping worked, aldo i never see the trigger.Wish i never read here about the waterfall climb, that would have saved me a hour of frustation. Stll wonder how they do it..in or out the water, near the edge of the wall..whatever.
About mantle...where is it, i have absolutely nothing in my inventory. No weapons and not one object.
Wanna give it a honest try, aldo i still don't grasp it much. Srry.

Mantling is the movement you do when you hold down the jump button (you heave yourself up).
What I did to climb the slopes by the waterfall was to strafe run (hold down both the run button and one of the sidestrafe buttons) straight up the slope. If done at the correct angle, you will slowly inch yourself up. At the top, I swiftly turn to look straight at the edge and mantle over the edge.
You can reach this waterfall pool later as well - by jumping down from above (possible from two different places).

Having played this on all levels some 2+ years ago, I am replaying it again. This was one of my favorites, with good story, and wonderful architecture. However....this time around, I get a crash at the opening when I jump into the water to retrieve the water arrow, or head up the falls for the rope arrows. I do have the patch installed.
Would some one please tell me how to fix this, or what to do, as I am a non-techie? I am playing on my newest computer, Win 7 (soon to up-date to Win 8). I do not have Thief 1.9 installed.
If this helps:
Intel i7 3615OM
NVIDIA GT650M
8 GB
1TB Hard Drive
64 bit
2.3 GHz
Many thanks.

Since 1.19 fixes many bugs and crashes from 1.18, I would recommend installing it first and see if the crash still happens.

I think that will happen in my dreams only, but it's possible to see the project resurected thanks to the patch?

I agree with Yandros, but it sounds like you're having the infamous multi-core crash. Did you make sure to run thief with only one cpu core? Thief freezing up only a bit after starting a mission is a symptom of running with more than one cpu core.

I will try all of the above!
Thanks for your help.
