Reminded me of those Dizzy games where you would try everything all over the entire map in a desperate attempt to get further and find some substance.
This guy should keep the map but cut down on the keys, and add a few more guards and hiding places. The mission would have been a lot more enjoyable if you had to do less. Key hunts and pulling levers in stupid places is more of a chore than a challenge. That's what seperates the official missions from the fan-made ones (with the exception of Sabotage).

Just finished it. Sumptuous! Upon picking my jaw up off the floor after the opening cam-vator scene, I quit and started over just to watch it again! Then I just kept smiling as I walked around outside. Had to keep reloading cuz I wasn't really playing, I was sight seeing, like a giddy tourist.
Nice finish in the tradition of Garrett waking up naked with a sore head. Did I say finish? I think I meant beginning; whatever, same thing.

Wow, what a good mission. I had to get used to how much more sensitive the persistent the guards are after playing Thief: DS. This is thief at its finest.

This is one of my favourites too. I showed this FM to a friend of mine the other day (who has never played Thief). She commented at how beautiful it was to look at, especially the camvator intro. She said the colours used showed that the author had an artistic eye.
I'm sure Saturnine will be pleased you're enjoying the FM.

I have a question with this mission.
SPOILERS:
Am I supposed to be able to pick up that bow upgrade in the war museum? Also, in a review I read on this mission is said there was a touching moment in the nursery. Was is just the letter the mom left for her child, or am I supposed to unlock some secret in there?
Norman Druart on 4/8/2004 at 19:11
Well, technically I think it's an upgraded bow but no, you can't pick it up.
I think the touching moment players mention in the nursery is the FX that occur when you enter the room. At least that's what it was for me.

Ah, I see. I just wanted to make sure I wasen't missing anything. That part was touching for me too. Right when I started reading the book and hearing the FX my 17 month old daughter woke up from her nap so I had her in my lap during that part. :(

Who's the guy who does Garrett's voice in this mission? I swear,
when I grabbed the crystal out of the war museum
I thought it was the real voice.

That is Loanstar. He was a terrific talent in the community. :)
If you want to hear another awesome Garrett impression, try Fletcher's Final Mistake--the briefing for that mission is just amazing.
I love that you're enjoying the Seventh Crystal, though... I may be (i.e. totally am) biased, but it's definitely one of my favorites. :thumb: I really hope to see a sequel one day.
