Sorry clearing, I can't give you a BIG hint before asking permission to Qolelis, but I think another small hint can't hurt.
Hint -
From all people, I would have exspected you to be the first one to find it. I'm also a bit surprised :sly:

ok, I've tried hard to solve basketball challenge for 3 hours. The key is hidden in the scroll the servant wrote about his lord. I'm not able to solve it. I give up for now... :(
PotatoGuy on 3/1/2010 at 18:39
You're very close, Aspirin! Try to combine what you found with the other hints, and you'll probably figure it out.

All hints (with extra comments) so far for the first challenge:
Hint: It might not be where you think it is.
Comment: Wherever you think it is; it's not there :sly: unless you think it is where it is.
Hint 2: You will find some clues in a seemingly unimportant and unrelated creation of vice memory.
Hint 3: Look beyond the very borders of this world.
Hint 4: There is a scroll who's enjoying the company of his peers.
Hint 5: Look beyond the beyond.
Hint 6: Do some soul-searching.
Comment 6: Where do you look then?
Hint 7: Transcend into the world of The Builder.
Comment 7: Who is The Builder?
Hint 8: Be nosy!
Comment 8: Stick your nose where it doesn't belong.
Hint 9: PotatoGuy is surprised that clearing didn't find the basketball.
Comment 9: Why is that?
Hint 10: Please don't lynch me when you find out where it is  :cheeky:
This challenge is hard, but with the above hints, I think you should be able to guess where that damned ball is not.

Does the basketball exist in a literal/physical sense on this level?

You're gonna hate me for this but:
Yes, and no.(I like how your search ends up in 'warming up the stable boy' :p)

That damned basketball doesn't let me sleep. I post some ideas and thoughs and questions:
- hint 3, 5, 8: "beyond borders" in general - ok, is basketball real basketball or not ? so can I find somewhere (wherever it is) real orange basket-ball ??? Or it is some "virtual" basketball like bitmap in fan mission folder/document, or virtual basketball like moving asteroid or something named in some document as basketball ? I know - stupid idea but with hint 3 is everything possible. So, in other words: where are the borders ???
- hint 7: Who is the builder ? Is he the builder of these asteroids ? Space ? God ? Or is he the fan mission author ?
- hint 8: "where it doesn't belong" ??? Does "nose" mean Garrett nose ? Does it mean I should do something unnormal ? In that case I would try to put Garrett nose into ghosts ass for example (btw. no result for ghost in sun control room... :( ) Or I can treate the omelette recipe as a coded guide to do something what resulted in basketball appearing. But it seems too complicated.
Or does it mean to reach some unusuall place in mission like small moving asteroids ? But it would be in contrary to hint 1.
I think the solution is simple and probably logical. But if you know the solution the principle seems logical, but all of the ideas above look logical for me now too. So with so many hints and with so many variations and possibilities of hints meaning its not hard, its very very hard to solve it imho. I wonder how many people will be able to solve it. Its a question of luck - to have the right idea.
Has anybody of betatesters solved it ever ???
I give up the second time after next 3 hours of solving puzzle. Maybe somebody will be more lucky then me.
Good night... :bored:

Qolelis told me where it was, but
first I had to find something else - I did that by myself. I don't know about the other testers though.I'm amazed to hear how much time you people spend on finding it. If I were I would focus a bit more on the
clearing hint. (And hint
8.)
