where is the "chute" into which I am supposed to release this book? From the map it looks like a building with a sign with gears on it over a pair of metal doors is where it should be but I don't see the chute. The building appears to be about 3 stories high. Is there a way to climb up or into this building? If I go way around to the other side, across from that round building, there is a window with a curtain that looks like an entrance but I don't seem to be able to enter that way. I thought with all the pipes running up some of the buildings that I might be able to climb some of those but no luck so far.
Otherwise it's been a fun mission so far. Not many doors to unlock or pick though. Usually more of those in a city mission.

I think you're in the wrong place. Go past the Police station and around the corner to the left at the end of the street. There should be a guard standing on the left under a sign. You need to get on the ledge that runs around that building and you'll be able to get around to a balcony on the same street as the police station. The drop-off chute is in there.

He's describing the right place. It does have double metal doors with a gear sign. Over those two doors is a wooden beam extending out of the building.
Rope arrow that beam, and hop up onto it. Then walk along the ledge to the balcony as Nightwalker described. That other curtained window you are describing can also be entered, although with a bit of niggling. Rope arrow the window frame near the top, and hop in. It may take a couple of tries.

Thanks for the hints to you both. I upped the gamma on my monitor (I think it's getting older and darker or maybe that's my eyes) and figured out how to get onto that little ledge. Anyhow, I finished the mission and now I can join the rest in waiting for the next installment. :)

Go into the guard's sleeping quarters with the two archers asleep. Enter through the north end of the room, the door with the locked footlocker close to it. Hop on the bed with the archer sleeping on the bed closest to the two crates and the pirate flag. Look at the support beam against the wall running from floor to ceiling. Near the top is a reinforcement beam at a 45 degree angle jutting out of it. Look on the beam just above where that 45 degree beam comes out of it.

Thanks Uncadonego, I just was searching in the room upstairs, next to the kitchen. It wasn't a guardsroom after all. Stupid me!
But what about that
"door" in the ceiling of the toiletroom there? Isn't that openable then? I think I can hear a voice there.
GREAT MISSION! My compliments! This is one which you can play more times, because it has so many elements of surprise in it and lots of different parts of town to visit ........... this one will never get any Taffer bored, I'm sure of it!

Sometimes I think I can hear voices in the secret door in the bathroom too, Gloria. The doctor says there's medication for that, but I don't want to dampen my creative flow. :laff:
No, there's nuttin' there, and thanks for the compliments. I think most designers want to hear those more than they let on. I'm cheap and have no self respect, so it's no problem for me to admit. :cheeky:
