OK - I got the gen.osm message and it didn't go away until I extracted a new file and then copied and pasted over the new extracted file. Hope that makes sense. But I'm still stuck with nowhere to go - the plaque is still there but no message appears. Its quite dark so maybe I'm missing a handy button. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Did you restart the mission afterwards, nickie?

Yes I remembered to do that. :D
I had problems with the English version of Ultima Ratio until I removed the film files but none at all with the German, so I have also tried the German version of this in case my pc is trying to learn a foreign language - but no luck.
I'll try a bit of cleaning up as per the FAQ and have another go.
OK done that, also deleted the gen.osm and convict.osm, ran cleanup, redownloaded and extracted the files and still nothing, so guess this will be one I won't be able to play.

Would be interesting to learn about the system configuration you use, nickie.

Thanks xxcoy, smithpd kindly checked it out when TDP started crashing recently. It seems its normal and I've changed nothing since then but will double check. Virtually all other fms work fine apart from one other, which I'm posting in its thread about but that's a completely different problem.
Actually I've found that's only intermittent so won't bother posting about it.
Am now moving on up to Tech help as I seem to have acquired controls problems. Maybe everything's connected.
Solved the mouse problem so would still like to know if there's anything else I might try.

It's a domesticated water elemental, the pet of the water mage who's sleeping in the same room.

Ay carumba! Whatever next? A reformed zombie or a haunt that's realised the error of its ways?
