two and a half hours in, I overwrite my fallback save, then I quicksave, shortly after I've KO'd the giant and all the minions around the reservoir then I read the notes by the gates :wot:
but now the giant is KO'd I can't kill him and open the gates and I just overwrote my savegames :eek: WAAAAAAHHAHAHAAAAAAAA *sob* I've got to start again! *sniff*

Phew, :sweat: managed to find where to shoot him with the poison arrows and got them open

Congratulations on having the guts to tackle one of these old text games, and make it work. I've often thought of doing the original "Collossal Cavern" - You want to kill a burrick with your bare hands? - but I dont have the patience or perseverance to be a level builder.

I've completed almost every objective, but I think I need rope arrows to do some stuff. My problem is the opposite of Dafydd's. I think I have the key, but can't find [SPOILER]Kyle Or his room and the unpickable chest. If Kyle's room is the one with the transporter, ther was no unpickable chest there. If his room is in the mines -- then where? I can't find a room with an unpickable chest anywhere around there. I've been back there 3 times already.[/SPOILER] Have to use the transporter to get out. Can't get across that broken bridge without a rope arrow.

If memory serves me right, you just jump in the water next to the corpse in the water and then up the other side.
You'll find Kyle further on.

Hmmmm. I went down the ladder, and the Hammer's corpse wasn't in the water but on a bit of dry land under the scaffolding. When I walked up the ramp on the other side of the corpse (black hammer discoverer), it dead-ended! I had to go back up the ladder to get back into the mines, and teleport back to the room near the domed room with the bat. No other way out. Are we talking about the same mine? Are there more than one?

In the cavern where the dead Hammerite lies is a broken rail track. [SPOILER]The black hammer is in the water at the bottom, near the Hammerite.[/SPOILER] You'll also note two ladders in this same room. Climb the one in the SW corner, jump onto the track and head down the shaft, following the rails. When you reach the bottom of the ramp, immediately turn left. You'll see a thief near a fire and a locked chest.
If you're in the Dome Room, you've gone WAAAYYY too far back.

Found that ladder! My nose was almost touching the wall before I finally saw it. My Garrett needs glasses for Christmas ... Thanks for the heads-up!
