Can one complete the mission without rope arrows???

2h40m into it, and it seems I'll not be able to finish.
I knocked out the giant and now even 10 poisonous arrows, all that is left in my inventory after I used them on other targets, are not enough to kill him with splash damage, no matter how good I aim them, as he is not "solid" in KO state, and there isn't any other weapon with splash damage - no fire arrows, no explosive mines. How testers could miss it...

I would imagine there must be some center to him, some small solid part still there. Even repeated blackjack hits will eventually kill a thing

Are you sure? It seems physically transparent to me, sword goes right through him no matter where I aim it...

Managed to kill him with 10 remaining arrows by stacking 3 bodies under him so that center of splash damage would be inside his body.

If you sneak behind him, you can definitely deal with him via blackjack. It takes a while, but it can be done. :)

OK, I give up. I have knocked out the giant but can't kill him. Also went back to saved game and gassed the giant, but he still is not dead. At least, the gates will not open. Followed a previous post and stacked 3 bodies under him and tried to kill him, but no luck.

Could someone tell me exactly where to hit, stab or shoot him so the gates will open?

As stated in an earlier post, the giant's center is near his belt. Use the poison gas arrows to kill him. (You'll use most of them up.) Once he's dead, the gate will open.

Either I can't find the mines or already was there and didn't find what I was supposed to find. Nor can i find the north teleporter key.

Though I haven't played the original Zork text games, two of my alltime favorites are still Zork Nemesis and Thief, so I was looking forward to this :D

If you ever get back to combining Thief and Zork, take on Nemesis ;)
