It's been a long day, so I'm probably missing something, but:

[SPOILER]I have the reservoir key, went back up to the house and KOed the thieves. Where to now? I don't seem to see any mines, gates, anything.[/SPOILER]

I don't think so--I'm in the canyon with the waterfall at one end and the gates on the other.

Right then, Run back to the house and down into the pits and find your way to the canyon, mines and reservoir.
