That's actually probably the only way at that point; the other way requires the old woman's key, which you can't get until you're already inside!

You can also get to that point the following way:
Go out onto the cloister balcony, and hop over the balcony railing. Now head towards the greenhouse roof area by running along the cloister slanted roof and hopping up onto the wall. At this point you could also pick up the gas arrow. Next hop onto the slightly raised edge of the wall and face the sticky vine. Hop to it like hopping on to a ladder, then climb down the vine to meet the ghost.
Loving this mission - so pretty - the best looking mission I've played. It's a taste of T3 for those of us not able to pixel shade away :(
But (there's always a but!!) I'm having trouble
working out how to drop the "new testament" in Lord Martan's room. I presume I'm in the right room - it's the one with his diary and ransom note. I've tried dropping the testament on the desk a zillion times, as well as the side table. EDIT: Never mind - for anyone else experiencing the same prob - it's the room across the hall from the one I described and you just pop it on the desk.
And (there's always an and too!!) just a reminder that spoiler tags are there for a reason peoples.

Where the heck is the key that unlocks all the doors in the Old Lady's house? I can't find it anywhere. I've searched the cloister (I assume it's that garden area)...egads!
I found it, go figure (fyi:
The old lady appears in her living room after the ghost tells you to meet him in her room.
)

When you get the daughter back you will have a few other quests and be told to meet Marton in the old womans room.
In the living room (of the building where you went for the pagan caves) you will find the old woman. she has the key. She will be sitting at first. If you don't have the AUTO EQUIP on and BJ her, she will fall on the key. If you just sneak up you pickpock the key from her left side.
Once you get the key (by whatever means) the door near the greenhouse can be unlocked. If you then take the key and go upstairs and unlock the door on the left at the top of the stairs, you will find Marton and an additional quest.
You get the key from the old lady.
The testament is in the notaries room. The testament is on the table. Pay special attention to the table. There is more there than the book and the testament.

That mission was amaaazing! I really enjoyed it! I really appreciated the detail that went into it.
I wondered at first what all the subtle Pagan decor was about, I realise now.
Good stuff! ;)

:o Ok now that I got the right thread...
I really enjoyed playing this FM. I appreciate the attention to detail and loved
the lighting down in the sewers.
I only wish Thief 2 had TDS sound. :)

Finished!
I just have to say it again - what a beautiful mission. Perfect level of hardness - tough but fair. Respectfully disagree with what others said about
the recipe - that was all quite visible and logical. I find the toughest part are hidden switches - I just wish someone would hide more in fireplaces - I spend ages searching them just in case and am never rewarded for my efforts. :weird:
Now playing another by the same author - (
