The staircase in question is in the extreme NE corner of the mansion.

Very beautiful graphics, new objects and architecture in general. I think the most beautiful T2FM I've played so far. :thumb:

I think you have found a dagger that belonged to a guest, right? The two daggers for the objective are regular loot items. They can be found
on the wall above one of the staircases, I think it´s the one that goes from outside the bar to what looks like a library.OK, that makes sense. I have one from
the library staircase
AND the one that belonged to a guest already, so I'll just have another look around where you said.
I think the thing that confused me was that the guest's dagger showed up as a silver dagger in the inventory (or maybe it just looked like one :p).
Anyway, thank you all, I'm off to *cough* reading *cough* now.

Now that I finished this mission, one question is still worries me:
who blackmailed Lord Marton? The same individuals
who kidnapped his doughter? I.e. - pagans (Old Lady)? If so, I do not undestand why that blackmail note was in the mission at all, pagans needed the child for totally different reason.
Go back to the shrine and look closely around the area where you found Scarlet.

I swear that's the most confusing mansion layout I've ever played. I wish the player map had conveyed a little more info, but I'm not going to nitpick too much.
While I didn't find the mansion *that* confusing, I agree it should have had a better map. Especially considering how many specific rooms you have to go back and visit after having been there once.
I figured I should go back and do something with the lute I found but I couldn't find the lutist's room again no matter how long I searched. The only flaw in an incredible mission. I really loved the old Thief 1 feeling, and some of the pagan/Constantine textures to be found. Really can't wait for part 2. It's looking like it might be my favorite kind of mission (but I won't say what kind that is due to spoilers).
I finished with well over the required loot and 10 secrets found. The *only* really difficult part I had was
finding out I had to flip a well-hidden switch and descend into a secret grotto underneath the old lady's kitchen. I was actually quite stumped until I went into Dromed to figure out what I was supposed to do.
An earlier post talked about going back and seeing what became of the old lady. I went back and she was still asleep, same as always. Was something cool supposed to happen after you slipped her the poison?
