Probably my favorite 2006 mission, and definitely the author's best work ever. I already loved "So Long Hammers" and "The Curse", but this is really magnificent :D
Story is very well done, and turns more interesting and darker later on.
Good background on all the characters, various changing events, and I loved the variety of objectives, from looting the guest rooms to aiding the ghost of Lord Marton. Some really jump out in terms of orginiality.
The mansion's design is very well done. Many alternative routes to travel, packed with hidden loot and secrets, and it's interior is one of the most beautifull i've ever seen. Clearly a lot of time was spent into making it as detailled as possible :thumb:. The only drawback for me were several short moments when the framerate dropped to an unplayable level.
The excellent gameplay, a strong story with a sinister plot, and attention to visuals (fog, texturing, interior) makes this a not-to-be-missed mansion mission. 9/10

I'm also wondering about Part II. Last news from ROFB is over two years ago :erg: I'd love to see this story continue.

I love this mission as well, and I asked him about part 2 in an email in May 2008 and this was his reply.

well, so many things happens in one year and a half. I'm now the father of a near 7 months little boy and I feel that I'd better put most of my time on him rather than on any other hobby (and dromed is a VERY time consuming hobby as you know).
...
I don't want to put a definitive tombstone on this project, not yet though, but I'm aware that it's a huge one and that it's really too much time consuming. I'll see within the next months what I can do. I've thought that I could use TIC3 mis file to release it as a stand alone mission (and with a complete different story than TIC) since it's almost finished, but I don't know if I'll have the time (or energy) for its completion.
If you didn't already, you should mark TiC2 orange or red, based on how you interpret these words and the fact they're now 9 months old. But you can also add TiC3 and probably mark it the same status.

Thanks for sharing, Russ.
I hope he'll drop by here and tell us if something changed since then.

I wanted to search for the 235 loot I had missed in my first playthrough of this awesome mission, when I realized I had lost my saves. "Oh dear, now I have to play the whole thing again...YES!" :D
I wanted to take it slower this time, to soak up the atmosphere, try to pay more attention, etc. Wouldn´t you know, I actually managed to locate all the five loot pieces I had missed last time. I pretty much stumbled over them. Sometimes even a half-blind taffer gets it right...
While finding all the loot is nothing new (as can be seen in this thread, Slynt did it in June 2006...) I now have a complete lootlist that I´d like to share if someone is interested.
Since thiefmissions.com is on hold these days, do you know if there another natural "home" for lootlists for FMs?

I just finished playing this, and I couldn't find the key to the son's box in his room. Where is it hidden?
The Phantom on 22/2/2009 at 21:05
If It's the key I think you mean, then the clue for it's location is written in a scroll in the
butler's room. Hope that helps :)
jiansonz: a lootlist is always welcome. Klatremus has several hosted on (
http://home.online.no/~ajnilsen/hn/hn.htm) his site. Or send it The Circle.

I need some assistance on which picture in the old woman's house is hiding a switch.
PotatoGuy on 28/4/2009 at 08:41
Go upstairs and enter the room on your right. The picture is behind the door.

So glad to see this mission getting play time :) It's one of my all time favorites. I love the rainy atmosphere, the mansion and the story.
I've seen ROFB on here a few times here and there, so he hasn't totally dissapeared. He seems to stop by to say hello and see if there is any interest. Heard basically the same as others about following missions, at about the same time period. Last spring.
From:Ramirez's old fat Burrick
"...Regarding part 2, yes it's being made, but it's very far from completion. Don't expect it before at least one year from now. Real life needs are the main causes for this delay."
I'd expect longer than this spring though most probably, if ever (one can hope)...
