I really liked the writing in this mission, and found it very challenging but fairly fun. in general it was a very good mission, but a few small points.
1.) I had to adjust my gamma on my screen and in thief a lot higher than for other FMs (IE calendra's legacy or COSAS mission 1)
2.) because of the darkness, and the need for flying jumps, it wasn't clear what to do for a while after emerging from the underground pool into the room with the 3 raised rocks (after reading this thread I did figure it out, obviously)
3.) the location of the potion: I had found over 5000 loot, knocked out everyone on the entire level, and taken (and read) every piece of correspondance, but hadn't found it because I didn't hunt every inch of the level (I understand that there was a hint it was in the closet, but I had looked there, and due to the miniscule size of the lever had thought there was nothing there) for a lever that had been scaled down to the size of a penny ( in game)

Thanks for the FM, uncadonego! Played it last night and quite enjoyed it, especially the readables. :)
I didn't have any trouble finding my way through the caves, but got stuck more often than I'd like to (once even outside the caves as well, in one of the houses). I had to do maybe half a dozen reloads because I was stuck and couldn't move. As Mika L pointed out, the margin for error is a bit too small. The same goes for getting out of the sinkhole, but maybe I'm simply no good at climbing rope arrows. ;) I'm no good at finding secret switches either, so getting the vial was a bit frustrating... Other than that, I had fun. :)
I hope you'll be making more missions?

Sorry you had trouble finding the switch in the closet, but actually it wasn't scaled down at all. It's the normal size for the small arcing unlabelled switch. With the caves, I understand people having some difficulties with the jumps and mantles. That is mostly caused by the lack of right angles in the caves. However, if I had used a lot of right angles in the caves to make it more easily mantleable, it wouldn't have looked at all the same. There really aren't any right angles in nature. In fact that is one of the first things archeologists look for to prove that humans existed on any given site-right angles. We like 'em. Nature doesn't make 'em. I knew people were in for a bit of a challenge there, but it looks more like natural formations that way. This is not to rub it in to anyone, but with practice and the right technique, you can get through the caves and out of the sinkhole in less than five minutes. One thing is for sure, after this game, people will definitely have practiced their mantling skills! It's hard to know the balance between too hard and too easy. Also, some people don't like linearity in games, but the caves could also be seen as not having a well enough defined path. It's a hard balance to find. And I'm a newbie! It's only my first mission!:)

And I'm a newbie! It's only my first mission!:) It's hard to believe. As a first effort it's quite amazing! :thumb: No go and fire up the ol' Dromed and start building another one. We're waiting for the first screenies ;)

Thanks everyone. I'm glad in spite of the few kinks that everyone seems to have an overall enjoyment of the mission. It's difficult striking a balance where everyone is pleased with everything. I suppose if I asked some other builder's they may interject: "Nay, IMPOSSIBLE!" I was more or less just trying to express myself artistically much like making a painting or sculpture, except using Dromed as the medium.
I WILL be making a part 2, but for now, during the spring, I'm getting the few stokes of Mixed Messages fired up again and getting it ready for release. I'll update concerning that one on the old MM thread. THEN I'll begin building part 2 of Two Fathers. No title yet or announcement thread, it's too far away. Lots of work on MM.
But honestly....someone with Dromed look and tell vesuvius, please, I didn't miniaturize the switch. That's cruel and unusual punishment!!:wot:

Ahhhh!...Thank you Morrgan.:) I think it may look tiny in contrast to the size I made the rooms. It's funny, twelve foot ceilings in Thief looks proportional to a normal size room on the screen to the player's view (IMO anyway), but it does make that switch look awfully small, doesn't it?

Look familiar uncadonego? Since you haven't directly answered the question from a few people about this, I LOOKED IT UP! I was right! The greek work above means....well, you know what it means don't you uncadonego?:cheeky: Hmmmmmmmmmm............Delphos/adelfos, Delphos/adelfos....sounds a lot like the greek for brother, don't you think?
OK, OK....we can wait for part 2. Like Melissa said, a great read.
I always joke around when it comes to you, but I would like to be serious for a moment.
:erg: .................................:laff:
Ok, now that I've got that out of my system:
Straight up: I think you are a good story teller. It's the range I've seen that impresses me. In Karras' Diary, you made Karras and the Mechanists sicker and more dangerous than in the OM's, and I was glad to kick all of their asses. They scared me. Garrett was a hero.
In Two Fathers, you had me wanting to do a mission out of sympathy for someone else, and then you actually managed to make me feel real feelings of guilt for being a thief. All of a sudden Garrett was down to normal human size for a change feeling like a shit.
I'll bet Mixed Messages is going to be something just as good and totally different once again.
No jokes this time. Just keep up the good work man.:thumb:
