It's not in any of the houses you mentioned. It sounds like you have missed finding a BIG part of the mission, which is where you find the safe. Don't read the spoiler until you've finished exploring the middle house.
You need to go into the middle house, upstairs to the big bedroom and look behind the left bedside table for a lever. Then, enjoy! :)

Yup, I had the wrong house. Thanks Nightwalker. :) I just finished the mission. What an ending!!! Tell me there's gonna be a sequel!!!!

The caves were challenging, given my unnatural fear of spiders and heights! but i made it, thanks to nightwalkers words of encouragement that i read here.
The gardens were my favorite part.
Hard for me to believe this is your first fm, you are already a master!:thumb:

I feel like I've really missed something- I was enjoying this FM immensely til I realized I'd been everywhere (I think) and I'm short loot. I've spent over 2 RL hours scouring and re-scouring everything from start point through secret area, and I'm only 4858 and need 5000. So close and yet so far!! Anyone have a loot list or places I should double check? I don't recall finding much (if anything) in the caves, could I have missed something there? I know this is an excellent FM but right now my frustration and my own ineptitude is overshadowing everything else :(

same thing happened to me... have you
[SPOILER]opened the kitchen safe(of course), found the ring in the play area, there is a bag of stuff in the storeroom off of the kitchen with the safe, behind a container. There was a small hallway off of the stairs going to the secret house that had some loot too. I found one lone coin on a dresser also that is very small and easy to miss.[/SPOILER] hope some of that helps.

Boy, near obsessive attention detail? No kidding. :)
Did anybody else notice the neatly stacked plates in the upper cabinet in the kitchen? I carefully took each dish and tossed it on the counter thinking that the key to the kitchen safe might be in that neat pile.
Every npc had a name - well, at least the guards did.
Anyway, thanks uncadonego, for a great FM. The caves were challenging to navigate and the architecture of the houses was really nice. The readables were really good - lot of variety. The only thing I wished for was the ability to put loot back! LOL. I wonder how many of us would have done so if possible?
I'm anxiously awaiting the sequel!

At the beginning ... welll ... let's just say I was using another "s" word alot as I kept reloading & reloading just so I could swim through without losing any life points. :grr: Finally managed it; but it would have been nice if I had been able to find that breath potion that you had laying around somewhere. :rolleyes:
As for the jumping-ramping acrobats, never was into the Big Tree type of stuff so I was amazed that I was able to get through with only a couple of reloads. The caves even look authentic ... well done :thumb: However I'm grateful that you didn't have us retrace our steps back to the beginning. :D
Finished the level on expert but somehow missed picking up the [SPOILER]key to the kitchen fireplace safe :o [/SPOILER]
