In my opinion this FM has the potential of being something great. What makes the game so frustrating is the rediculus key hunts. 7 hours now and I am bored to tears wandering around not knowing what to do next.
No one answered the very simple question on how to get into the
factory. Vague references about a sleeping guards? Invisible keys? Has anyone actually been able to complete this mission?
How excactly am I supposed to
exonerate the thief. I have a papyrus the should work but I don't know who to give it to or where to put it.I am playing on easy and I have the following keys
All 5 library locker keys
Nestors key
Cripplewoods key
Cathedral key
Post Office key
Do I still need more keys? Is Garret a master thief who can't pick locks? How do I get into the factory? This FM is so vague in every direction that it makes me want to scream. (

Hi Bedwine,
from what I remember,
you cannot get into the factory on easy. You can get in on hard and expert. I recall that the factory door was not locked: You can get straight in, although I recall a hammerite patrolling and coming out, and then turning around and going back in. It is pretty dark when you get in, and there is another hammerite coming from the door to your right. He is easily bonkable, due to the darkness. There is also another one behind the desk, sleeping. When you get upstairs, make sure to check the bookcase in one of the rooms very carefully:) Also check the grounds carefully for loot. As for
exonerating the thief, believe it or not, you do not need to put the scroll anywhere. Later on, you will be able to get into the thief's room. Although I am a bit hazy, then you will get the objective of proving her guilt(!) You will have to go back to the hotel and open a door you could not open before. I was as frustrated as you are sometimes, but I was able to finish it, and found it great fun. This thread is long, but it will be a lot of help as you move along.
Good luck,

Finally finished this mission. This time, on my second attempt, things went much more smoothly - obviously remembering the locations of some keys and switches helped. This FM could have used a little less keyhunting - sometimes it felt like there were more unpickable locks than pickable ones - and maybe a little less backtracking, although this didn't bother me too much, as I don't ghost. Apart from the nobleman patrolling around the cathedral area and a commoner near the courthouse/Cripplewood's, none of the civilians seemed to react to my presence in any way. I only got 4275 loot or so (on Hard), which means I must have missed some pretty big stashes. I didn't go to the construction site, though, and didn't find library locker keys 1 or 2.
There's one thing I didn't quite understand, though. Who is the female thief who gets chased by the watch and killed near the very beginning? Is that supposed to be Anuschka, and if so, what's the point of finding evidence to prove her guilt of murder, if she's already dead? It also seemed a little odd that simply picking up Gustav's diary was enough to complete the objective of proving Anuschka's guilt, and that you didn't actually need to drop it off at the watch station.
Overall, I thought this was a fun mission, if a little unfocused - there were so many different things going on that it was easy to forget what the "main" plot was. But I'm certainly looking forward to the third episode! :thumb:

Hi Jah,
yes, that female thief was Anuschka

In that case, the whole "side quest" of proving her innocence/guilt seems pretty pointless, although it does explain why there's no need to drop the diary at the watch station. Then again, IIRC, that objective only pops up when you read the note in the courthouse, so I assume you could just skip that business altogether by not triggering the objective.

Yes, you are right, the objective can be skipped if you don't trigger it, but I did it anyway.

Tried downloading this from a couple different places. It crashes every time I click on the title at the first load screen. Anyone else had this problem and is there a fix. It's the TIS for the next two weeks and I want to be able to play it.

Try deleting the movie file in the zip and then run it again?

Well, I wasn't sure I should do that because it may crash looking for the briefing, so I just changed the missflag.str and added no_briefing. It seems to work. We'll see if it crashes when we get to the cutscene. Does this mission require a darkloader higher than 4.1 ?

Another fix that might work but might take a little more work is to install the MPEG4 codec. I was just playing another mission called 'The Mirror' which had the exact same problem for some people (including myself.) If you download that mission, it should have zipped into the main zip-file a file called CoolCodec. If you open that and install it that might solve it.
Otherwise, Sneakyjack's suggestion should work. Just remove the movie files and play them separately.

Yes, this is highly suggested. Otherwise you cannot hear some music files, because they are OGG files. Only Darkloader versions beginning from 4.2 can decode it.
If you want stay to version 4.1 you can decode the OGG files yourself. And if you have trouble to view the readme in the correct language, the file you are looking for is named FMinfo-en.rtf.
