I'm stuck trying to find the factory safe key on Expert. I read a note that said it was out by the boxes in the back alley but I can't find anything there. I read some posts that said the key is under the conference table and invisibile  but I've clicked all over the place there and come up with nothing. Can somebody tell me exactly where it is please as I'm tired of looking.

It took me a while to find the key for the first gate, even though I checked this forum and new exactly where to look. Keyhunts can kill otherwise great missions. I'm going to keep playing though, but I've read a lot of "can't find the key to...." posts. I'm wary.

Thank you SO much, clearing! The screenshot made is easy to find. :thumb: Now I can continue on with the mission. :)

Seems we are having key problems. Playing on Expert and after going through weapons area and the hotel, I cannot find the key to the first gate.
Will someone please give me a BIG hint! :ebil:

Hint: Go into the hotel and look carefully in room 2.
Spoiler: Look under the bed

I'd like to ask for explicit directions on how to get inside the central tower in the hammer haunt castle. I have considered three possibilities, but none of them work:
- Door on first floor (using U.S. terminology). Doesn't work because door has no key. Read something about a metal door opened by a switch earlier, but I can't find any switches.
- Rope arrow into a wooden beam on third floor, then climb up and in through the window. Doesn't work, because no matter what angle I'm shooting from, the rope only lower down to the ledge around the second floor. (And this seems like unfair map design, as views from slant angles strongly suggest the rope should be able to clear that ledge.)
- Crate stair on the battlement, then jump from the crates onto the top of the diagonal corridors, then find a way in. Doesn't work, because no matter how close I place my crate stair to the diagonal construction, I always fall down and die. It feels like there's an invisible wall there. (Again, I think this is very unfair, since it LOOKS like it should be doable.)

Here is how I did it: First, the key to the double metal doors on the first (ground) floor is under a crate in one of the towers in the outer wall.
Second, I sank a rope arrow into one of the wooden beams which stick out above the third floor windows. The rope will not hang down to the ground but it will hang down in front of the second floor windows. You will need this rope later.
Third, when you enter the double doors on the ground floor, you will see a pedestal with a crown on it which is surrounded by a magical force field. Don't touch it, you will take damage. Behind that pedestal is a central shaft with a ladder. I grabbed the crates from the tower where the key was and stacked them near the pedestal. Then I climbed onto the crates and jumped over the pedestal to the ladder.
Fourth, you can only climb up to the second floor but you can go out the window to your rope arrow which you have already put in place and climb that to the third floor.
Hope this helps.
