I cant get to the upper sections. I have the urn of hot blood but don't know where to use it. I'm playing on normal and everything is complete except for killing that guy and escaping. There's a lockbox in a small room i cant open and there's a metal panel on the wall high up in another room i cant get open either. I guess either 1 of those or the urn helps that guy escape???

Exit the mansion and see if you can find
another entrance.

Ok. First you need to open the
metal panel in the room you mentioned.
There is a
switch nearby behind
the bookshelf.
Read the scroll that you will find carefully and you will find a hint on the
key for the lockbox.
And the rest should be clear.

You need to find the key to open the lockbox. I assume this is the one in the uppermost floor on the east side of the mansion. There is a clue to it's location
in a scroll on the uppermost floor on the west side, behind a hidden switch. Behind the hidden panel which was a secret in the original thief 2 mission. Extra hints:
The key is located somewhere close to the outside of Versaw's room.

This mission was beyond awesome! Seriously man, well done!
The ape playing the piano is just about my favorite thing ever. No really...like...f***ing EVER.
I've done everything but "return to where I started" to finish the mission, and I have a few questions:
Okay, so there's a ton of stuff I clearly haven't finished. I have a hook, bone key, and metal mold in my inventory that I've seen no use for as of yet. I never figured out what to do with the magnetised boulder in the cellar or the tiny hole in the wall in the basement. I'm assuming the hook factors into the second puzzle somehow, and I'm guessing the bone key is suppose to remove the collar from the guy at the beginning...unfortunately using it on him has no effect. :erg: If it helps, I'm playing on "hard" difficulty. Once again, fantastic mission!

@The Mike:
Nothing of this is critical to complete the mission - so you have to work harder if you want to find out. :ebil:
Just a few hints, since I leave the privilege to sort these questions out to the author.
The
ape is not what it seems to be. It is actually an
enchanted rat. Does that ring a bell ? Having read anything in this mission about it ?
Oh, and you have everything you need to visit the
magnetized boulder.
Everything else will follow as you make progress, giving you some more puzzles.

Look around.

a small hint: hook - magnet - small hole - tiny - hammer - storage room - mold = bonus objectiveI hope this helps. I don't want to spoil too much :ebil: :sly:

the key and got the ring. I still cant figure the rest out. What do i use
the ring and the blood urn on? There's a
mage in a small room i need to free, dunno how to. There's that
guys blood on the ground, not sure whats up with that. The guy playing piano, dunno if anything there to do. Also the mage in that bubble field, dunno that 1 either. Again I'm playing on normal.

i did it :cheeky:........and the fact that i asked for help so much showed how excited i was to go forward in this masterpiece! I like the fact that FMs nowadays use more interactions with specific items, and this mission is one of the best examples. the way to use the items seems "realistic" (in a thief unviverse way), the story was really good and told in readables that were not too long. how you redesigned the level was very impressive, especially that i needed to go inside and walk some metres to realize wich level was taken as the basic. i liked the little sidequests, the secrets, everything! the only thing i missed was some thiefstuff like rope arrows/some really hard to see places that need some creativity and exploration......all in all AWESOME! and i heard this was your first mission.......can't wait for the next one!
ah and thanks for your help guys ;) sometimes i'm way to simple minded for such simple things like putting the gem in the corpse
i wonder what you would do with THIEF2/MISSION10 ;) PLEASE do it :D
Xorak on 5/7/2012 at 23:50
Thanks for everyone's kind words.
I wasn't quite sure what people would think of the puzzles and such. They used to be much more difficult (if not impossible, according to some of the beta testers;) ). I was making changes even just up to the last minute.

The ring can be used
at the top of the tunnels, in the inner tower where all the pillars are.
Once there, this should give you some ideas where to use the blood, and how to free the guy trapped in the room below. The blood on the ground:
is nothing important.
About the ape playing the piano:
on normal difficulty, he does nothing.
