You can use the empty vial on the bucket of blood in the little room where the wizard Shardhang was lying.
Then you can use the three vial's of blood on something in the inner tunnels.
Further hint: one on each of the three jars in the green-lit room in the inner tunnels.

:o Stuck very early in the mission.
Have ingredients and cookbook, but frobbing is not making the recipe. No idea what this recipe is for yet.
I also have unpickable locked doors and found no key. A grate to upstairs, and no way found to open it. A door that partially opens only, and cannot see how to get past it. I checked that I have the necessary scripts. Maybe missing the necessary brain power today - danged flu! :p

Little Fly is in Vol. 13 of the walkthroughs and hints for all 2012 missions. Ingredient listings are included to help the player figure out what goes with what.
Grab it

Ricebug's walkthrough is amazing, but just in case you don't want more of the mission accidently spoiled, you're trying to make a sausage to feed the wolf outside. There's a text explaining this in the eastern area outside, by the tower (you can walk through an open part of the tree near the front gates where the skulls are). I think you're stuck on a way of lighting the oven. Put a flare in the oven. There are flares in the room with the water on the floor, by the bathroom.

I have the link to the walkthrough, thank you Ricebug, though I do prefer hints.
Did I miss a readable that tells me why I need to feed the wolf? I saw it in the trees, and kept trying to blackjack it. Then I realized I was supposed to give it something, but expected a hint about this somewhere to tell me what/why.
I knew I had to light the oven, and had the flares - never realized they could be used to light things - kept looking for a fire arrow. Also have a sleeping baby burrick, not junk, but looking for something to let me know what should be done with that. If I put it down, maybe it cries and attracts a parent? (already ko'd them, so they are out cold for the night) - or maybe it chews it's way through a stone wall? Or burps to knock out guards????
Interesting game. I like the idea of using things in non-standard ways, but a few hints when this might be happening would be good.

I still think you're missing some of the outside part. If you go to the right from the starting area, you can reach more buildings, and eventually the text suggesting why you needed to make that specific thing.
The burrick is not needed quite yet, but will be used for another puzzle.

Of the 22 FMs, there are only two walks; the rest are hints. I don't think walks are effective, because by the time you realize you need one, it's impossible to square your place in the game with the walkthru--each takes his or her own route.

To avoid having to go back and scour a mission for a readable you tossed away, go to the books folder, highlight all the str files and hit ENTER. (Assuming you've assigned Notepad, Editpad, etc to the file type.) Then you can quickly click-click-click your way through the pile until you find what you're looking for. Or you can do a search. (EditPad lets you search all files simultaneously.)

I just discovered that, and then remembered it from the last time I tried this fm. So now a few more things are cleared up. The item to be magnetized gave me a lot of trouble. Tried everything metal in my inventory, and only accidentally frobbed the
hook when I decided to follow behind the
beast and explore his room a bit. So now I have the item from using the magnetized object, but it won't get me anywhere until I can find some way to
open it. Looking for the next found item or readable to lead me to the solution.

EXCELLENT!!!!

The magnet puzzle leads to an optional bonus objective, so you don't need to do anything with it if you don't want to. Although here's a hint for what do with the magnetized item: there is a hole in the bricks behind the brickwalled-door, which you can interact with. But you'll still need other items to continue on with that puzzle.
It sounds like you need to find a way upstairs now. Check out the dumbwaiter and the readable/warning there.
