*Spoiler:
When you get to the bottom part of the pit and follow the mummy up the ramp to the top, get past him and run to the end where the brazier's burning. There is a switch that will open a path across the pit so you can get from that area and back again without having to go all the way around. Just for fun,
I tried to lure a mummy onto that walkway. I had plans to flip the switch again and send it plummetting to its doom on the spikes below. But it wouldn't take the bait.

LOL, Little_Dragon. Guess it was just too smart to see through that ruse. :)
Gloria, I do the same when I get stuck in missions. I think its a random game bug rather than a mission bug. Usually. Most 3d games seem to get them periodically. I know I get stuck in Guild Wars sometimes too. Will accidentally run right through part of a cliff. . .only to have it seal up behind me so I'm stuck and have to reload to get out of there. Thief is the same, you can run over the same spot a hundred times then run over it once and get inexplicably snagged. At least with thief you can reload quick and easy - if you have saved recently.
And I agree with you. We can't really criticize until we've made missions too. *eyes her partially completed one and shoos it under the bed so no one can see* Honestly, Not sure if I have the patience to finish it. Its fun, but building does seem to get boring. . .lol

Thought I'd just pinpoint where my SGDS experiences took place in this FM, nicked, in case you wanted to look into it. It happened twice:-
1. Going up the broken stairs (leading to the area where the Book Of The Dead is, I think) on the left side - started to slip off half way up when it happened.
2. Climbing around on the initial, excavated, entrance to the real Emporer's crypt (imm at the end of the little cave section, after punching in the code) - it happened about halfway back down. And I didn't even find any loot there!
No big deal - it didn't harm the experience at all - just FYI.

Sadly a downside to complex architecture in Dark. I considered using objects for certain bits like the broken stairs, but the problem with that is you can only have a square or spherical bounding box (or a sphere with a square top, but regardless...) so you either have to make it have a big invisible lump poking out, or make it so you can walk straight through it. :(
That's my only wish for the open dark engine - the ability to add complex collision masks to objects, and therefore build much more of the level out of them.
Til then, everyone be careful around non-right angles! :thumb:

Maybe thats something to pray for for T4. An engine that will allow for better building - and still be fun to play.Even if their game isn't so great. . .maybe their engine will be. Well. . .we can hope, can't we?

As long as they've sorted out all the clipping problems that plagued Tomb Raider Underworld. Still, different version of the engine, different player abilities and movement skills, probably not an issue.

dkessler - If you
put out the guardians then there should now be a ladder going up to the room with book.Cogline - You get the
correct code from the maps. Try looking at both maps. Once you enter the correct code, the block above the buttons moves. That is your way forward.Oh oh do you HAVE to
put them out ?
I
killed them with
flashbombs.
Water arrows don't seem to
extinguish the corpses.
Am I metaphorically
buggered ?
Tannar on 29/5/2009 at 10:18
The truth is I am not completely sure but I believe you must extinguish the fires in the braziers. Even if the guardians are gone, if the fires are burning that may be the problem.

Yes indeed - IIRC I think the flames are simply ControlDevice linked to a RequireAllTrap - so even if you've killed the guardians (which is a bug that slipped through, they should have been immortal, my bad!) you can still complete the puzzle by putting out the flames.

Finished. Congratulation nicked on excellent FM ! Your special mummies reminded me beasts in Ruins of Originia.
I'm looking forward to third one... ;)
