I had a brief hiatus from Thief for about a month while I attended to some family and work matters. When I came back this week, I fired this one up, and what a surprize.:D Not only do I find a very entertaining mission, but I find that I am one of the main characters in it. A total surprize. And, it took me a long while to find my own bedroom. :eek:
I liked this mission a lot, and not just because my name was mentioned. It has ingeneous routes, and it ranks very high in the list of "exploration" type missions. The game play, the architecture, and the AI response / positioning are all very good. It kept me entertained for four evenings and 5+ hours of game time.
I am missing two secrets and 484 loot, so I plan to go back and try some more. I read about Nightwalker's stash, which I have not found. All known buildings are opened, and all known AI are down. I ghosted it for about 3 hours of play, but eventually I ran out of ideas, so I BJ'ed them all to permit me a little more freedom to move around. Found a lot of stuff after that, but still more to go. No hints yet, please. I have avoided all spoilers so far....

Just thought I'd pay homage to all those original players who cracked the Mixed Messages code and sent their e-mails, and what better way to honour them than to make them all thieves in the Thief universe! :D

Hey! I'm a star! :cool: I haven't played any Thief fan missions for a long time, I'm having too much fun this summer on the boat! But right now my boat is at the boat doctor :( The intake seals were out of water too long and they all dried out and need replacing. So I thought I'd see what there was to play, and OH!, an uncadonego mission! Cool!
I downloaded it, and the next thing you know, I'm reading a message I wrote! TOTALLY AWESOME! Man what a great exploring blast this one was! Challenging to get into a lot of places, LET ALONE FINDING SOME OF THEM IN THE FIRST PLACE! Fantastic fun! You've done it again unca!
Totally odd little fancy I have, but you know what I liked in the mission? The sign at Dr. Jebs over the receptionist that said: "Please sign in and wait to be called for exam" I thought: "HEY COOL! I'm reading a sign in Thief without frobbing it! It's a real sign!" Oh yeah, I'm gone alright.
Malic's Delicatessen from Windsor again! Just like in Two Fathers, and Dr. Jeb's wife's favourite sandwich is on the menu! I particularly remember that from Two Fathers because when I drove by Malic's, I couldn't put my finger on why it sounded familiar, and then it hit me!
Sad, sad letter about the little boy. Sad about Ffox and his dad too.
SmithPD is just another in your long list of sickos though, eh unca? People who have sex cages and peepholes, people who force people in death matches and force the maid to dress like a whore, guys who use minors to commit crimes, etc. Your world must be a very sunny place unca :laff:
Anyway, great job again, and I'll get you in the end SmithPD! I have the evidence now! You're going down sucker! :mad:

Well!!!! I'm desparate !!! I love " Chain of Events ", and have played through 3 times [ twice with a fine-toothed comb!!!] --- but I am still 330 short on the loot!!! :confused: --- although the extra play-throughs were worth it just for the scenery
I've even made a list of the " gang " members [ " and checking it twice], and there are 3 of the 14 that I haven't found . :o
I've read all the postings.
Is there a loot list available ???

I seem to have become obsessed with finding all the loot :weird: !!!
Usually " close " is good enough for me !!!
I believe there are 14 " gang " members.
Actually, I am missing 4 names ...........although I found the loot on the windowsill of the Collector Tower Bldg., but I don't know the sleeping man's name ( is he one of the gang ?? ) :confused:
The 4 names are Snowcap 21, Jack of Trades, Maddog CT, and [ BBR]-M Tanker.

Snowcap21's loot share is [SPOILER]behind the fruit stand closest to the post office, where the four fruit stands are[/SPOILER].
While you are there, you are very close to BBR M1 Tanker's loot as well. [SPOILER]It's in the water, just over the fence next to Snowcap's fruit stand, between there and the post office.[/SPOILER]
Maddog CT's loot is in the same place as one of his buddies, although [SPOILER]it's in a different beam. The underground hideout with the two bunks that connect secretly to the sewers. Skoalman is his partner, so if you found his loot, go back and get Maddog's.[/SPOILER]
JackOFTrades' loot is also [SPOILER]in the water, though at the other end of the map. Swim under the bridgehouse and you'll see a toolbox in the water. [/SPOILER]
If that's not all the loot, you may have missed some secrets. Let me know when you find all of these how short you are on loot. :)

Well, I finally got to play this one and..Wow! That was fun! My stats weren't too bad either...3135 out of 3345 loot, all 9 secrets (!! some of those were rough!) and I got almost everyone's loot stashes... I believe I missed Nightwalker's and Melissa's. Wouldn't mind a spoiler on those, because I couldn't find them anywhere :)

I had picked up both Maddog and Jack of Trades' loot without seeing the names !!! - I thought Jack of Trades' was a bomb ( a timer and sticks of TNT! ), so I grabbed the loot and ran.!! :confused:
I keep my picture dark --- too dark, I guess.!
And I have no excuse for missing Snowcap 21 and BBB-Tankers' loot --- I'll just say that I usually play very late at night .
I found all 9 secrets. I found 8 myself, and the jail secret by reading here. :tsktsk:
I'm still 100 short on the loot, but I thank you for helping me find my missing " names" .
Your work is so full of imagination --- can't wait for the next one. :thumb:
