I finished with all nine secrets but short on loot by 565. Lots of fun.
Thanks

sometimes in Thief, just closing and reloading the mission unsticks an AI that went asearchin' for a noisy taffer and got hung up on something. But....if you quicksave first, (this is a little tricky) run on the rooftop with the chimney, and when your foot touches the ledge, JUMP at the offices building, up to the third floor! That door is lunchrooms, and it isn't locked. It's more successful if you run in a spot where the catwalks won't catch your fall, but if you miss.....well, just quicksave first.

For those of you who finished with all secrets but still short on loot, make a list of the Mixed Message gang taffers from the letter you nab, and use it as a check list for loot. Everyone in the gang gets their share of the take from the job, tied up in a purse.

Thank you, uncadonego. I have restarted 3 times but the guard has only wavered once off his banister perch and that was to slide over onto the chimeny. Is getting his key the only way into the power house building? If so, I think I am permanently stuck on that particular quest.

Yeah, I was wondering about that guard. What's up with him? I haven't been able to find any way in either.
uncadonego on 24/6/2005 at 20:41
Yes, you need that key to get into the powerhouse, but there is only one bit of loot in there and a couple of fire arrows. Have you used all of your gas arrows and the gas mine?
joanieS on 24/6/2005 at 21:34
No, I haven't used those yet. I must say, I was really thrilled when the mechanical robot walked right into the canal. You know, I have enjoyed this fm so much, think I will just restart and go do the power house first. I don't want to miss anything. :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:

The best part of a mission is the AI response to TOTAL carnage.
"VANDALS!!, A Sentry has been demolished!" :laff:
"Iv'e seen some taffer sculking around here".
"We have a breakin!, I found the perp, but I lost him!"
What about the moment they see you carrying a dead BODY.
"Drop him you TAFFER!!! (Not all Authors seem to put dialogue in for this jewel of triggered event?)
THis was something really great to unravel, as climbing, prowling, roof jumping, swimming, secrets, pick pocketing, and MORE.
THe hideouts are cleverly and secretly hidden behind removable stone blocks in extended areas of the sewers. The gutter lids by way of a ladder was a good approach for a lesson in stealth blackjacking.
I sure could have used that breath potion I found later?, before I took that long swim!
I was getting so much fun out of this.
I would taunt guards as to peaking through windows around the doors, where they could see me through. Dashing across buildings and leading them away from their posts was effective in response to a search.
THe archers were fun to taunt and often hit their 'TARGET', as when I would jump into the river! they were still filling me with broadheads, fluffing me up a bit.
I sure like the sound of an arrow bouncing off the turf in a shuffel.
GOD, I love THIEF!!!!
T3 just doesn't have the resulting satisfaction you can get with TDP-TG-T2 albeit the creativity of imagination behind the brush makes the difference.
Must play this again!
I played this till my eyes started watering!! And then it was all so clear? Oh, umm, apparently the game ended! THen I wanted MORE>
HURRRRAYY in appreciation of UNCADONEGO for another saga of THIEVING to
COMMENCE UPON! :grr:

Wow. What can I say? This mission is just plain awesome. Gameplay, architecture, everything. I especially like missions (like this one) where the placement of the AI is a puzzle in itself. I spent a ton of time just scouting around trying to find the right approach to an AI to take him out without alerting the others. Great fun! I'll bet I circled the entire town three times picking off the AI one by one. And no one knew what hit them! :joke: Playing on expert: 3:14, 500 short on loot, and missing 3 secrets so I know I'll be going back to scour every nook and cranny.
uncadon: two thumbs way up! :thumb: :thumb:
PS: the toolbox was a nice touch! :laff:
PPS: uncadon, I know you make these missions just as a hobby but have you ever considered doing this professionally? IMHO you have the fun and entertainment factor down cold.

Thanks JoT, I thought you might get a kick out of the toolbox. :cheeky:
I'm not sure if doing it for a living might make me hate it though. :erg:
For now let's just keep it for fun! :joke:
