I have roped all over the ceiling near the door in the bed room and I can not not find any switch. (?)

It's possible you aren't in the right bedroom. Have you found the bedroom with the switch on the central ceiling beam about midway down the room? That should be the first bedroom you were able to get into. The bedroom with the switch over the door is next door to that one.

Are there any Thief missions like the originals? These missions with all the undead are not to my liking. I've enjoyed thief very much for the last 10 to 12 years until they got too much of the undead and too much of the ghosting which I don't like at all.

You just ran into the wrong FM for you. Cardia makes his FMs different. If you can't handle undead, then just check the sickied FM list, where there aren't said to be any.
FMs aren't OMs either, you'll have to face that fact too. It's about new thing on the same engine. Personally I don't care what the people say about OM atmoshpere in FMs, all FMs I've ever played were different and not replaceable with OMs.

@gitb If you are on Mission1, I dont think that you will learn about him until Mission2. I beta-tested this, but it has been awhile. The 2nd mission is a mirror of the first.
