I used the same solution as Jonescrusher to solve the rubble puzzle. Not because I'm trying to cheese it, assuming I know what that means, but because it was the only solution apparent to me in game at the time and it worked. The only reason I know it's wrong is through this thread. If it's the wrong way and screws the game, it should really have been made impossible. I am now confused about the lighted candle puzzle. The only brazier I have seen so far is already lit, in fact I used it to light the candle. So I don't know what to do.

it doesnt screw the game, so dont worry about that.

you need to find
another, unlit brazier. you can either walk around the temple looking for any place you might have overlooked; or you can stand in one spot and think about things and deduce exactly where it must be. hint:
think about how the portals work.

It doesn't screw the game, it just takes away the intended easy learning opportunity for the player to get a feel for the ins and outs of
the portal room. The player can still learn everything they need to know, they just won't have an easy puzzle guiding them through, anymore.

I also did the same thing as JonesCrusher:D It was not impossible, but I often stuck in geometry while jumping on that bridge. With all respect to the author's intentions and efforts, I would say that it's good to have puzzle with two solutions (which are not cheaty) even if one of them was not intended by author.

Grrrr. Please don't, tho
While his advice is technically accurate, I do not recommend following it. While this won't break anything, it will likely cause you more trouble down the line. Do yourself a favor and look for the intended approach instead of trying to cheese it.
But is this solution really unintended? I'm asking, because:
1) you get rubble way before activating the machine. You can say that machine is encountered earlier, but player who plays blindly doesn't need to realize that this is portal machine. I certainly didn't realize that. I thought levers open portcullis or power up some other places. It's true that there is plaque mentioning Portal Room, but this is ancient temple, so I thought that portal is just part of architecture. I mean there were portals in Ancient Rome and Ancient Greek, but they weren't teleportation devices. That's why I thought that this unintended route is actually the only intended one. To fix that author would need to move rubble to place accessed only by using portal and thanks to that player would figure out proper solution.
2) getting some pieces of loot requires tricky platforming and mantling. That's why I thought this unintended solution is in the spirit of this mission.

Yes.

Unless, of course, one of the solutions fails to introduce the player to a novel gameplay mechanic, as it was supposed to (making the rest of the mission less intuitive). To improve the experience for future players, the unintended solution will be patched away, shortly.

The technical effect dropped my jaw to the floor. I salute you!

I have no favorite from this competition but IF I would have to make a decision, this is it :) Thank you!

Awesome mission trefoilknot, thanks alot for this one :thumb:
I loved the temple atmosphere and the portal riddle was awesome. I feel good having figured it out on my own :laff:
The only thing I can complain about are the annoying guardians at the end. Is it really always necessary to include rush stuff in the end like this? It´s so predictable by now ;)
And as usual I do have a question: There were 2 crystal junks that were placed on very high windows. How are you supposed to get to them? I tried using the stone guardians as stepping stones but that didn´t work cause garrett just wouldnt get up there.
I´ve played all the available missions from the contest so far and every single one of them I think is gorgeous. Thanks alot to the great authors!! :)

Incredible portal. Not just the beautiful and seamless incorporation into the layout (how?!?), but you also built it into the gameplay strategy perfectly. Well done!
One question:
The readme says that only elegant solutions are required, no perfect timing, but the only way I could get the lit candle to where it needed to be was to turn off the portal and quickly bolt through before it completely powered down. Given the delay in the power-down I am assuming this was the intended solution, but I found the timing to be very tricky, and am now wondering if there is a better solution
There were some bugs that I noticed:
1) I HATE jumping that bridge! Is there no way to keep people from making it across with the debris without making it a 1/30 chance of making it across when unburdened? I have never quick-loaded so many times in my life!
2) The heavy debris appears to rattle about on the floor after it has been placed on the destination end of the bridge using the portal.
