Was this modification tested on Windows 98?
I'd like to use my voodoo1 box as a multiplayer client, but I get the message "could not find original version of a required script module", although I'm using an exact copy of the installation that works on Windows 7.
EDIT: this may be related to the fact that I had to scavenge an msvcp71.dll from some other installation. Maybe it's not compatible with win98 :)

I don't think it was tested on 98 but I could be wrong. In any case, sounds like some file is missing or not being read. Are you saying you copied this .dll file to your game directory and it still isn't working?

Yep. Actually I can try clicking on the background multiplayer window menu (for "host a game" or "connect" despite the alert messagebox, but it then the whole EXE crashes with a general protection failure or whatnot. This clearly indicates that the msvcp.dll is wrong. I wish thief2mp didn't depend on this :)

Hello guys!
I tried to start a server, but I go this error: "Failed to connect to global server." Does anybody meet with this problem too?
sNeaksieGarrett on 1/2/2012 at 22:33
Yes, I got the same error. In addition, on the server browser it says: "The server rejected your connection. Try downloading an updated version."
EDIT:
I looked up msvcp.dll to see what that was about, and it appears to be a microsoft visual C++ library file. This suggests to me that you are missing the microsoft visual c++ redistributable package. Perhaps you should check to make sure that you have it, otherwise you could install that and see what happens. Another thing you can do is search for different versions of mscvp.dll on the internet. Something else that just crossed my mind: You could register your dll file like people have registered the LGVID.AX file for movies and see if that might help.

MSVCP71.dll error appears in windows xp service pack 3 when i tried to run Thief 2. The last version of T2 multiplayer, 218 (T2MPSetup_218.exe) didn't resolve the issue. Keeper Diana said it does, but not. 215 version of Thief 2 multiplayer works of course. I have installed in my pc microsoft visual c++ 2010, but cannot install c++ 2003 (some temp error occurs). The mutiplayer project is dead ? The multiplayer site doesen't work when you click things.

First off the last time I talked with Tos he was planning on continuing the project if I remember correctly. I don't know when or if he'll announce it here.
Hmm, maybe you should uninstall both and try just installing 2003 or just 2010. Another option is to just (

The DirectIP connection is still working!

Hey. Sorry if this isn't where I should be putting this - I'm new here, and I couldn't find a better place. I've been trying to get Thief 2 MP to run, and I managed to do so by putting DDfix in Safe Mode, but nothing else works. I've actually tried a LOT of stuff, down to hex-editing between a regular EXE and the MP EXE to try to find some merge that would give full features (I discovered the exact three bytes that control whether the multiplayer components are loaded. Swapping them out with code from a regular EXE makes DDFix run fine, but disables multiplayer). Since DDfix's safe mode is working, I tried disabling all of the options in DDFix individually, without safe mode - no dice. So I'm figuring that DDFix's safe mode turns off something that you can't normally turn off in the ini - the only thing I can think of, is the resolution support. If anyone has any input on making DDFix (I'm using the latest version) work with Thief 2 MP, I'd appreciate it. It's hard to go back to playing Thief 2 without NTex's texture pack, the Thief enhancement pack, or any post-effects now that I've gotten used to them. By the way, I have

? You're post is incomplete.
That's weird though... I have multiplayer and ddfix enabled at the same time and mine runs fine. Hmm, you fiddled with ddfix.ini and still nothing? Which version of ddfix and which version of the multiplayer patch do you have?
