I mentioned this in the main 1.19 thread but I'll mention it here too. What we can still do for now is have a second 1.18 install for multiplayer. You don't even have to do a full-install, just copy/paste a bunch of files to a new folder and make a stripped install pointing to the assets of your main install. It's only around 80 MB. Somewhere there's a thread giving the directions for a 2nd stripped T2 install that you can search for.

Yep, in fact I've already got my old 1.18 still, I just made a separate install for 1.19. Currently the darkinst.cfg points to the old install of 1.18 for crfs, but I have crfs in the new folder as well. I guess I should do some cleanup cause I've got double the crf files now.

Uh come on.. If he had already given out his source code, there would be a working 1.19 MP already and even the thief mp build itself would maybe even have a higher version than now. And he didn't even have to lift a finger for all that.
Now we wait again, if he maybe eventually finds some time to get back into his code and make it 1.19 ready...
Just make it open source, man! You're doing nothin' other with it anymore anyways..

Yes, well, I guess if you put it politely, he might consider it. :erg:
This was tried by many people, many years, many times before.

Polite prodding while showing much impatience through a forced smile...

Personally, I'd rather not prod Tos too much.. He's been rather kind up to now about my inquiries and took time out of his life to make a patch that, clearly, lots of thief fans don't even appreciate. If you'd like to "prod" Tos, he's on steam. Or you can just send him a PM I guess.
I'm not sure if you guys knew this already or not, but I was looking through the previous pages to see when the last time Tos posted, and in (
http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=124169&p=2037572&viewfull=1#post2037572) this post he mentions the source and provides a download link. So if anyone out there is reading my post and is interested in taking a crack at the source code, feel free to do so. I think I'll download the source code myself just cause I'm curious.

Yeah, when not even the truly appreciative fans are talking about it much or answering inquiries, it takes the steam out of the whole thing.

Not sure how to take that.
Also, it occurred to me now that my post may have been interpreted to imply that the people in this thread are unappreciative. Let me clarify by saying I didn't intend that and that I meant there are folks outside of our little discussion thread that don't share the enthusiasm. I won't name names, but I know at least one particular forum member.
I took a little bit of time going through the source, and I really can't make heads or tails of it. (Well, other than that I discovered there are multiple source files that correspond to different functionality, such as a source file related to commands for t2mp) I think I should ask Tos about it to see what he has to say on how to start patching thief 2 v1.19 for multiplayer. I'm not much of a programmer so I doubt I could really contribute here, but I'm at least curious to know how difficult it'd be.

Ah it's cool that he did release the source under GPL. That's exactly what we'd need to keep it maintained & working in the new version, or even integrated into a new T2 version if we're really lucky. It should probably go to somebody that understands 1.19 from the inside in any event.

Yeah. Perhaps if this thread were advertised in the 1.19 thread that might bring more attention here. I also just realized this thread never got stickied.
