Thank you very much for your reply Brethren.
I looked into the 1.19 patch initially but to the best of my knowledge it is not compatible with multiplayer. I am open to correction on this.
Regards,
Nevik.

Yeah, I don't think 1.19 works with the multiplayer patch though that's only based on what I read before and not on personal experience.
I installed the multiplayer patch a long time ago, so I don't quite remember how it went, but I think must have done the same thing as you. That is, I installed ddfix and then replaced the exe with the MP one and hex edited it so it worked with the ddfix patch. Thief 2 runs fine for me though, so I really don't know what is wrong with yours.
Only advice I can give is to check and make sure that you have the resolutions matching between ddfix.ini and cam.cfg. (Although in the newest ddfix from what I recall the author removed resolution lines from ddfix.ini and is having you depend on just cam.cfg instead.) I know that if you apply the newest ddfix patch with ddfixgui.exe it will re-add resolution lines to ddfix.ini that shouldn't be there, so you have to manually delete them from the ini file. (Assuming you use this instead of hex-editing the exe, which would of course bypass this issue.)
Also, run thief 2 in compatibility mode to see if that helps. That's about all I can think of, sorry.

Thank you very much sNeaksie. I made the false assumption that the ddfixGUI.exe replaced the Thief2.exe, removing the required changes for the multiplayer to run.
Turns out it doesn't which means my game is working perfectly again :)
Also, the ddfix post on this site [(
http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=121449]), doesn't contain the ddfixGUI.exe file needed for this fix. A newer version of ddfix along with the required GUI file can be found here [(
http://www.gamefront.com/files/service/thankyou?id=17346916])
Hope this helps somebody and thanks again to sNeaksie and Brethren for their replies.
I'll be doing a playthrough of Thief 2 over the Christmas period with a dear friend of mine so hopefully I'll have something of interest to post a month or two down the line :)
Regards,
Nevik.

You're welcome.
Yeah, ddfixgui was intentionally removed from newer ddfix releases because the author didn't think it was necessary anymore or something. I'm not entirely sure the reasoning, but it's normal for the newer releases to not have it. I've had a collection of ddfix releases and of course already had ddfixgui on my machine despite upgrading to the newer builds of ddfix.
Hmm, that gamefront link is misleading. I've never seen that before, but it claims to be ddfix 1.5.5, when in fact it is only
1.3.11b, according to the readme file in the zip.
Ah - if you're looking for a nice Christmas holiday themed mission for multiplayer, you may enjoy
A Thief's Holiday 2004 by Yandros. I made a multiplayer release of this mission with his permission some time ago. I have it listed on my FMs page (
http://sgfm.webs.com/fms) here.

A Thief's Holiday is one of my Christmas rituals I've done every year since it came out. I recommend it too.
If you play T2 with your friend, note that it crashes the First City Bank level, so you'll need to skip over that.

I've finally managed to get the multiplayer window to launch, after downloading MSVCP71.dll and placing it in my Thief 2 folder, but I'm unable to host.
I press "OK" on the host window, the game maximizes to a mostly black screen as if it's about to work, then crashes.
I'm running the Steam version of Thief II, on Windows 7. Idears, anybody?

Any news about compatibility with New Dark?
sNeaksieGarrett on 21/6/2013 at 14:47
Nope.
