T2: So, fog is broken again. *sigh* - by EvaUnit02

Interesting and good to know, Dan. What I've noticed since I got my Vista64 machine is that whenever I read a book, check the map or go to the menu screens, when I come out, usually my gamma setting reverts to very low (much lower than I have it set at, anyway). I have to tap the + or - key to bring it back up to where I have it set normally. I wonder if the two are related since it's the changing screens that seems to trigger both? Anyway if anyone knows how to fix the gamma problem I'd be indebted, it's pretty irritating.

Life of the Party had fog??
Damn.
It sucks in LotP. Makes it look like the mission takes place during daytime.

Update on fog: It seems that not only when I read a book or go to a menu that the fog disappears, but if I load another mission and then load a foggy one, the fog doesn't render as well. The foggy mission has to be the very first thing I load-up in order for proper fogging to appear.

It's the first time that I hear a gamma related issue, Yandros. It seems that you are experiencing a similarly triggered issue, as whenever I change the main gaming screen to something else the fog disappears. But I don't experience a gamma change when I go into menus. The 1.18 patch for T2, makes the gamma reset just for the cut scenes but that is irrelevant to your issue. I looked in other forums and others experience the same thing, but all just use the gamma keys to fix it.

Yep, even if you notice the moon trough the sky fog, it still makes you believe it is in fact daytime, although I wouldn't say that it sucks.

For the longest time thought it did take place in early morning. I actually kinda like it better that way -- makes Garrett's "hmm the city actually looks livable" comment a bit more believable.

Twelve bells. Serious smog!

Fog works for me on Vista 32, but partially. When I start the game on a fogged mission, e.g. Life of the Party, the game shows normal fogging though and though. But as soon as I do anything like, reading a scroll, loading a save, exiting to the menu or ALT + TAB, the fogging disappears compleately. From that point I'll have to exit the whole game and load my game again to have fog.
It is interesting that with an Nvidia card i had serious problems activating the fog at all, but now with an ATI HD 4800 series card I experience the above. I use Vista 32 and start the game with DDFix.
I own a Vista 32 running T2 in Windows XP compatibility mode.
I had the exact probem with fog (on ATI Mobilty X1900) either with or without DDfix.
But, out of curiosity I just upgraded to the latest Catalyst 9.2, and I discovered that the fog now stays all the time :)

Woohoo! If that's true, then at least ATI owners can have fog in Vista. Biker, can you or someone else try and verify this? I've been holding off buying a video card for my new PC (running Intel GMA drivers right now) but if this is a reliable, consistent thing, I'll break my tradition of being an nVidia person and get an ATI card.

When i rebuild(waiting for a new case to turn up) my media pc in the front room, I will test cat 9.2 on that I have a HD4670 installed in that machine.

Well Scrooge, I have the Catalyst 9.2 and the fog still disappears. Maybe you have Ati Tray tools and have an option activated there. I can recall something like 10-12 options related to fog, but when I tried that several months ago, none of the worked for me.

I was too an Nvidia person, but for me Ati beats both price and performance at the moment. Although I still have problems with fog in T2, it's probably a specific issue to my own hardware set, so don't get your hopes down:).

Scrooge, could you post your TrayTools fog settings here for others to try out?
