T2: So, fog is broken again. *sigh* - by EvaUnit02

I'd love to see SiO2 and Timeslip (and possibly others) to co-operate on future additions/enhancement/fixes for ddfix (not only fog but other things/features as well). It'd be great to see this project resume and get active again. Always thought it was a BIG pity it was effectively abandoned 1.5 years ago as with no Dark Engine source code in sight for who knows how long (if at all), it's the best next thing to get - and keep - DE games running *properly/at all* on modern hardware/systems (as IHVs themselves completely don't care about it and are happy to break whatever possible - usually permanently - like removing hardware support for dithering and other "legacy" features).

Fog is partically broken in Life of a Party, and it always has been - it vanishes when you move a few blocks away from the starting point. So it it is not an issue on ddfix's side.

This should give fog in T2 missions that use it, without making non-fog missions pitch black:

Please test and report any issues. Thanks! :thumb:

Thanks, but I don't care about custom variations of original maps.

The 1.4.1 fixed the blank screen and it works wonderfully on a HD 4870 in Vista. Still there are some fog missions that have no sky-box, like Masks OM, or Calendra and Eclipsed FMs. Some like Cargo and Party Oms have proper sky-box rendered. Just so you know.

Are you sure that skybox
should be seen at these missions?

This version should fix the broken sky in fog missions:

See ddfix.ini for the new switches, but you should leave them alone unless you are playing Life Of The Party.
Breaking out the fog fixes into two really helps missions with fog other than LOTP. Calendra's Legacy and Masks OM now both have full fog and get their skies back (lack of sky was most noticable in CL near the pier in mission 1!).
We should be getting near to the final version ready for extensive testing now. :cheeky:

So I just installed the 1.4.2 alpha, but I get this:
"You seem to be trying to use ddfix 1.3.11 or newer with an exe patched to use 1.3.10 or older."
Is there a proper exe for the new version of ddfix?

Ah, never mind, I got it to work by renaming ddfix.dll and making hex changes in thief2.exe
Great work, SiO2 :thumb:

Again thank you SiO2! This one fixed the sky-box issue and the missions look astonishing! Like any good tester I will report anything as I discover it.

Absolutely positive! The most notable OM case is the
amazing Red Moon in Masks, which now works again and looks great. Also to confirm it works in FMs, Eclipsed has that gorgeous cloud panorama working again, although it certainly had a specific charm without the sky-box.
As a matter of fact I don't know of a single mission without a sky-box be it OM or FM. Even Cargo has a very vague line of clouds that are tough to sopt even with no fog, but its there.
