T2: So, fog is broken again. *sigh* - by EvaUnit02

@SiO2:
does your fix fog carry any additional computational overhead/workload over original ddfix version it's based on (1.3.11)? In other words, is game rendering performance now worse or the same in missions that both use fog and especially in those that do NOT use fog but are played with fog fix enabled via .ini file?

Well, seeing as I have the oldest test computer of the bunch, I've only noticed slowdown in the main menu and inventory store. Otherwise, actual gameplay is a breeze with the fog fix, and I notice no unusual slowdown.

New release: (

Fixes this bug...

You seem to be trying to use ddfix 1.3.11 or newer with an exe patched to use 1.3.10 or older.
Please use the ddfixGUI to remove the patch, or remove the hexedit by hand.
...so you should now be able to use the existing DDFix GUI as usual and just drop the new ddfix.dll into your Thief2 folder.

1.43 alpha works for me.
(Win 7, Ati HD 4850, Catalyst 9.12)

Same here. Thanks a lot!:D

I must update to say that 1.4.3 works even better.
Fog is more correct in some places, Esp. with the LOTP fog fix option.

And here's an update: My old Dell 4500S, as old and worn as it is, can actually handle EAX, supposedly, as T2 just accepted it as on when I entered settings (Can't tell with no speakers, though).
Now, how's about a simple graphics card that can handle fog as is older so it doesn't blow the bank?! All I need is an old voodoo card or something off Ebay so I can play T2 in all its glory, now.
Will a Voodoo 5 work in XP, or should I go lower?
I assume you don't need a new video card for T2 fog now? :thumb:

I was seriously considering getting an ATI card to get the fog before you produced the fix.

Well, maybe. Lessee how far I can push this baby.
:erm:
Y' know... Early in the morning, and groggy as I am, that last sentance didn't come out quite right. I was talking of my old Dell.
