T2: So, fog is broken again. *sigh* - by EvaUnit02

Vista 64 bit seems to be the key - it works for me as well and I know of one other taffer using Vista 64 that has fog as well. :D
Edit: Well after reading the posts above mine again I'm sure I'm probably incorrect but all the folks I've talked to with Vista 64 have had success getting fog to work - so the common link is there.
I also have A Radeon HD 4850 with the newest drivers and such as well.

Still no fog under GTX280 and Vista-x86 or W7-x64

@Bikerdude:Not sure, if I understood you correctly, but have you tried it, installing a XP driver to get fog on Vista?
Well I tried this myself and it didnt work for me, which I put down to Vista being a miserable little shit and not wanting to play along.
And the overall picture seems to be that out of the contemporary nVidia/ATi cards, the HD series (2900/3800/4800) are the only ones that will provide Fog under Windows (Xp/Vista/W7) using the Catalyst 9.x driver.

I have an HD4650 in Vista64 and have fog until I go into a menu or book mode, which I think is the problem PsymH was referring to above. It sounds like using an XP driver in Vista fixed it for him, so I may give that a try. Biker, did you ever give it a shot?

As a other "solution" it could be possible to write an AutoHotKey script, to automatize the restart and reloading process.

I've tried installing ATT but the low-level driver can't be started in Vista because it's unsigned. I may try installing a signed XP driver and see if it works. PsymH, is that in fact what you did to get it working permanently?

To make ATI Tray Tools work in Vista x64 or 7 x64, you need to enable "Test Mode" for drivers. It's stupid but just the say it is...
You can use (

Yeah, I found a way just by entering a command at the command prompt. I also found a tool that, with a little tweaking, actually signed the low level driver!
But still no fog after going to menu, even with the ATT settings you had posted back in June. Maybe I should try rebooting?

I reckon its a catalyst version issue, as my HD 3850 in the media pc w/cat 9.4 dosent have this prob.

Installed Catalyst 9.4, no help. Also tried RivaTuner but couldn't get its LLD working even with Vista in driver test mode, and didn't see any fog settings anyway.

Its might be a case of full uninstall of the drivers and running NFR afterwards, then reinstalling the driver..
