Or maybe there's just something missing? A battery, perhaps? AFAIK, the one in the UV light at the beginning is dead, and one has to find another one.

I had a weird issue during testing, I ended up having to restart and it worked fine after that.
I entered the chapel, I spun around very quick, the objective ticked off, as I knocked over the fountain. There were no bubbles from the holy water. I noticed it, but, what could I do. I continued with the game, when it came time for the UV lamp, it didn't work.
I restarted the game, this time waited to knock over the holy fountain after the objective chimed off. I saw bubbles this time when the water spilled all over the floor, I went a gave the UV lamp a try, this time it worked. Connection? Could be. Who is to say for sure. Its worth a shot, and worth it to finish this mission. There has never been a UV lamp like this in game, its a cool feature, and trust me, its worth seeing!

yes I have the UV light in my inventory...and have killed 3 ghosts.and I DO have bubbles now can sombody answer the second part of my question regarding the wine cellar....can I continue this mission without the blerdy torch.

Anyway if it does not come on you won't be able to continue.

Concerning the UV lamp: At first I noticed that the light from the UV lamp was very subtle, and the object in inventory won't change. If you walk up to a wall you will see the purple light color appear slowly. You don't really need to see the light generated by the UV lamp, but what it illuminates.
