Hi all,

Just downloaded T2X: Shadows of the Metal Age direct from its web site and hit two installation problems:

1. The following dialog box occurs:

"Failed to create custom Darkinst file.

T2X needs to rename and alter the file "\tx2\install.cfg" in order to play. Refer to the supplied FAQ"

Well I read the FAQ which says:

"A: With T2X v1.1 there is no editing of the original darkinst.cfg file (apart from a copy made during the installation process). If for some reason the darkinst.cfg file was messed up, there is an identical file in the parent thief2 directory called "install.cfg". Simply open this and copy the contents into your darkinst.cfg file and save."

Checking my T2X directory, I see a dark.cfg file but no darkinst.cfg or install.cfg file. What do I do in this instance?

2. The VP3_codec is detected as a virus by Avast and moved to quarantine. I assume the codec is actually safe but what to do in that regard?

Thanks - yeah, simply downloading the ZIP and playing it as a fan mission (per the "-fm" option) was completely straightforward; no need even for the codec.
