Does anyone know when I read a scroll, that the text is displayed like this?
I'm running the GOG version of Thief 2, with T2Fix and Thief2HDMod1.0.exe installed.

Might be partly why Gecko released a stand alone T2X HD.7z file which is available (

Text corruption like this is usually seen if a mod replaces the parchment background with a different one, but the standard text font is not changed although it does not fit the changed background any more. Earlier versions of the Enhancement Pack (EP or EP2) sometimes caused this, but I would not be surprised if other graphical mods also had this problem. But since I have not used the Thief 2 HD mod so far, I can't say anything about it. I only used the T2X HD version, which AFAIK did not cause such a problem.

I have tried to replicate this issue but failed. Neither Ricebug's FM version of T2X nor the HD version of T2X did display the scroll oceanclub showed (found near the beginning of mission 3) in any weird way, regardless of whether the Thief 2 version used was the one made with T2Fix v1.27e without mods or that version with the Thief 2 HD Mod v1.0 applied. On the other hand, I dimly remember that in cases where I did see something similar to what oceanclub showed us, it seemed to be a random thing: Sometimes, the readable was hard to read, and sometimes (in the same mission etc.), everything seemed to be close to normal. Maybe I just had luck and oceanclub had bad luck this time, and next time we check, it will be the other way round.
That being said, I read on ModDB that bentraxx (that is Gecko's nickname there, AFAIK) himself said that the HD mod of T2X and the HD mod for Thief 2 are not compatible. He wrote this in 2015, though, and Thief 2 HD Mod v1.0 is from 2018. Perhaps the T2X campaign updated to NewDark only (that is what Ricebug published all these years ago) would work better with the Thief 2 HD Mod, or the T2X HD Mod with a Thief 2 NewDark install not upgraded wih the Thief 2 HD Mod.

rule of thumb here is, if you are using hdmod, don't use anything else (not even another hdmod), because it's only compatible with itself.

Well, there is a reasom why I have not used (not even tested) the Thief 2 HD Mod so far...:cheeky:
