T2X - the heart in "down among dead men"

I hope it is okay for me to make a new thread with a question about a mission of T2X, but I just couldn´t find a proper thread and all the T2X threads seem to be archived. Please correct me if I did wrong.

Now to my question: The king´s heart that is found in the mission "down among dead men" - what is it good for? I couldn´t find any use for it and it didn´t appear in any other mission, it wasn´t even mentioned once.

I´d also like to use the opportunity to say a big thank you very much for this wonderful campaign. I´ve throughout enjoyed playing through it. As usual I´m pretty damn late (15 years to be exact:laff: ), but I want to say that even now your hard work and great project is really appreciated! :) Thank you!!! :thumb:

If I remember correctly, the statues in the tower will normally blast you with fireballs if you step into the light. Having the King's Heart will prevent them from activating, making the final area much easier to get through.

If you have all the body parts you can burn them in the furnace. This kills all undead I believe. It did for me.

Yes, that´s correct. If you burn the body parts (2x legs, 2x arms, 1x skull) in the furnace, the optional objective ticks off and all the undead are killed. But the heart is a different topic, it has nothing to do with the body parts.

The heart's function is indeed to protect its holder from getting blasted with fireballs from the statues in the mausoleum. The readable which gives a hint to this can be found near a dead man lying not far from a partially collapsed wooden bridge over a lava river. The readable reports about an expedition of the Hammers in these caves, and the writer mentions a "ward object" that is needed within the mausoleum. I do not know whether the heart is named in the readable or whether the player should guess it from something.
