Ah, Minimalist disables the arm raise. The problem is that Thief 3 doesn't allow full angle and position blackjacking, so the arm raise can be useful to let you know when it will work

Hmmm, the latest version of Minimalist 'should' have a tweak that broadened the black jacking area. I'll have to double check to make sure it's in there.

hey I didn't have a problem with blackjacking after the minimalist install.
Basically, if I could not get directly behind a guy, I didn't dare blackjack him.
The fact is, if you get the angle right, he will go down every time.
The arm raise is another "loot glint" type feature that removes the player skill.
Without it, you find your heart beating as you hope that your aim is as good as it needs to be.

But then again, they're already parked, why KO them?
Sometimes, you might have to cross his line of sight later, or don't want the added risk of him hearing you as you go do something that requires a bit of noise.

Thats why im posting here. I AM right behind him. And they DONT go down (Around 50% of the time at least).
If I can get windows running again and T3 to perform the same on a fresh install, I'll post a fraps of it.

Could it be that you're bumping into the back of them just before the strike?
Huckeye on 26/2/2006 at 17:24
Well, to test that, I stood behind them for a long time and listened to them grumble, whistle, etc. like they tend to do. I waited and then swung. It was the hit to the head that made them yell and start searching. I did not just walk up and hit them. I tried lots of timeframes to test the theory before I posted the first time. Never once did I ever hear anyone say something like "what's that over there". There were no auditory or visual clues that I had made any noise or had been seen at all.
I know the first conclusion is user error. I thought that myself for a while. But I know that something is extremely wonky for it to be like this. I'm on linux now, and my windows partition is hosed for some reason, but I'll reinstall and retest to make sure something weird didnt happen during the install. Thanks for all of the suggestions so far.

Yeah that sounds messed up.
Try a fresh installation without the Minimalist Project and see if the same thing happens.
