Hi, I'm playing my first T3 mission, Thief's Rising, and so I'm not too familiar with the controls. I've looked in the control section of the mission, as well as in the Thief Deadly Shadows maual, and I can 't figure out how to change his position.

As you can see from the screenshot, (at least I hope you can, I forgot to lighten up the gamma) he's stuck with his arm up as if he's ready to boink someone over the head. He also seems to glide rather than walk. He can't pick up bodies either. I really don't know which key to hit. I've tried the whole keyboard pretty much.

Ah, that's a classic bug. You can fix it by drawing your bow and knocking an arrow (you don't need to shoot it). Garrett will then land on the ground and the bug will disappear.

That's a problem then... because in this mission he only has a bj . Would going back to an earlier save solve this, do you know?

loading an old save will fix it. so will colliding with boxes/barrels (sometimes) or falling.

K thanks. Going to the previous save fixed then. It's happened a couple of times since then.

to explain whats happening here and how to avoid it: garret is getting stuck in the falling animation due to the absolutely horrible way they handled jumping and falling in this game. basically you jump, the game plays the jumping animation, and at the zenith of the jump it lets the physics engine take over making garret fall. this is generally acceptable practice... except that it completely falls apart when you cannot complete a jump.
as such every time you do an incomplete/slight or somehow slightly non perfect jump. the game has to quickly transition between lots of animations and states: jumping to falling, to landing, to standing. and it tends to get stuck somewhere between falling and landing.
so to avoid this in the future: make sure there is enough space above and in front of you to jump. generally a gab the size of a small crate will be sufficient. and dont jump against objects, especially if they are move- or climbable. also make sure to fully press the jump key and hold it for a moment. otherwise the game tries to do a small hop... which its not build for :D

Thanks so much for the explanation. Now I know what to look out for
