Opening a new thread to reduce confusion about versions of this mission.

(

Savar announced v2.0 in this thread, but later replaced the first post and the thread title with the release announcement of v3.0. Since there are significant differences between v2.0 and v3.0, reading the thread may now be confusing. Replacing the first post also meant the changelog for v1.6 > v2.0 is gone. There is no changelog included in the mission archive of v2.0 itself. Therefore, I decided to create a new thread for v2.0 and used the post date of the "v3.0" thread as the mission's release date in the title.
My report on The Hotel v2.0:Stats:
* Expert difficulty
* 118 minutes
* 90% loot
* 1 hint needed
Hint needed:
* Missed the
button to the right of the large bookcase in the room west room before the exit area.
Bug I noticed only in v2.0:
* Some AI repeated their lines when I extinguished light sources next to them. For example, a man sitting on a sofa on the hotel floor below Garrett's room said "Who is fooling with the lights?" after I extinguished the candle next to him and again "Who is fooling with the lights?" after he got up from the sofa and started searching.
Bugs I also noticed in v3:0:
* The elevator to the basement is completely silent.
* If you take the elevator up from the basement and stand close to the north wall, you hit your head on the electric lamp and the elevator immediately starts moving back down to the basement.
* In a small room near the
throne room in the abandoned wing, you can destroy a bookshelf with the dagger. After it dissolves, the chalices that were stacked inside it float in the air.
Comparison between v2.0 and v3.0:
* I prefer v2.0. There are some improvements in v3.0 that I like, but the many hidden rooms don't add significantly to the mission and make it much easier to get stuck. In v2.0, if you are stuck, you have to search a smaller area for clues and are more likely to find what you missed. For me personally, v3.0 is an example how you can make a mission worse by adding more to it.
