Um... actually, no; I don't understand. What is a "valance?"
The only thing I don't have is the Key On the Bed, which I can't find. But if the keys somehow open the chests, I haven't figured out how.
Maybe I'm doing this wrong; it's been a while since I played T3. I click Tab until the key shows up in the highlighted circle. I wait a moment, and it appears down in the lower left corner of the screen.
Then I highlight a closed chest and right-click... but I get the same noise as when I click without the key, and the chest doesn't open. This happens for each of the three chests, and the same with the other key I have.
Is there a different way to use the key to open the chests?
Thanks,
Dafydd

Hi,
Been in the Library for over an hour. Finally, figured out
to put books on desks.
. Now what? :eww: :)
Help please.
Thanxs,
Hope Vincent
PS Dafydd, don't right click. Use the "I" key instead.

I vaguely remembered running into this problem before in a T3 mission; so I searched through the threads for the T3 FMs and found it mentioned in one of the Krellek's Labyrinth threads...
It's the "inventory key" problem. Instead of right-clicking the chest, what I needed to do was select the key via that little wheel thingie, stand close enough to the chest that the lid highlights, and press my "use" key... which in my case is U, but I think I modified it. If the key fits that chest, the chest unlocks. If not, I move to the next closed chest and try it.
I now have all five objects from the chests in the bedchamber, and I've set out on the first journey... the one using the book opposite the shelves with crossed hammers. (I hope I haven't messed up by picking that one first...)
Yeesh.

I put all the books on the desks, all eight of them; so where's the $*%^&! key? I have all the others, and I've worked the locks.
I looked in the book/desk room, the room with the drunk ex-Keeper, the platform where I appear, and on the floor of the library. I suppose I can prowl through the two corridors up top... but am I even on the right track? Where should I be looking?
Thanks,
Dafydd
After placing all 8 books in book/desk room must appear a chear with the key. Have you reloaded from a saved game between placing the 8 books?
What do you mean? Sorry but I do not understand...

Tiens,
I put
all the books on all the desks
, but I can't find anything else to do. There is no chair with key in that room or the room with the keeper.
Thanxs,
Hope Vincent :)

The first time in the library, I found the first seven books but didn't find the eighth at first. I went to the desk room, put the seven I had found on their desks, and returned down for the last one.
I found it, returned, and put it where it should go as well... but it's possible I might have saved and reloaded during that time. In any event, when the last book was taken care of, no chair appeared and no key.
I reloaded from before planting any of the books, and this time I got the last one before putting them on the desks... and that time it worked.
So the problem appears to be that unless it's all done at once, it doesn't count!
After that, the rest of the game went more or less smoothly, and I was able to finish.
