hi,
I only now have a chance to finally play T3DS (didn't have proper H/W before), so far I beat 4 regular missions (don't count tiny training mission and city hub levels), and... on each of these 4 levels I had at least 1 crash to desktop per level (if someone is interested I can post exact places where it happened - I'm not sure if these places were random or not). My PC hardware is not faulty, checked everything with appropriate utils and everything else (games, apps, utils, OS itself - WXP SP2) works ok - only T3DS crashes (no component is overclocked and temps are ok). Crashes are generally out of nowhere - game runs fine for say an hour and suddenly - CTD (crash to desktop), but... last crash was a bit predictable as right before it game started to choke - even though framerate was ok. And then it crashed (I can mention which level it was if someone is interested). Game is patched to 1.1 version.
And I have to mention that other game by Ion Storm I have: Deus Ex (fully patched) also likes to CTD quite often, in random places/levels - out of nowhere. So question is: are IS games generally not stable and sloppily coded/rushed etc? I don't have/never played Deus Ex: Invisible War - but I can bet it would crash for me, too ;).
By contrast, games by LGS (TDP/TG/T2) are extremely stable for me, I can't remember them crashing EVER during gameplay for me - in FMs, either.
So, what is your experience with T3DS stability - how often does it crash for you if at all? Does it crash in FMs, too?

I can't actually remember too many crashes during play. Certainly it wasn't enough to make it unplayable or frustrating.

I don't recall T3 ever crashing on me.

but you had any?

Like Yandros I can't really say that it did crash, to be honest. Might be easier to diagnose if you give us more information about your hardware.

ok, my config:
- CPU: AMD Athlon64 3800+ (2.4GHz) 65nm/TDP 45W (1-core)
- MB: nForce 4 Ultra
- RAM: 2GB DDR2 PC6400 (DDR2-800)
- GPU: GeForce 7600GS 256MB DDR3
- HDD: 120GB Seagate 7200.9 PATA
- DVDRW
- Sound: onboard AC97 Realtek ALC850
- NIC: onboard
- PSU: Chieftec 400W
- OS: WXP SP2
PSU is sufficient for this config, latest official drivers for everything (except Nvidia - 84.21 ATM - but it was crashing on latest official 93.71, too). I don't use AMD Cool'n'quiet so I don't have AMD K8 driver installed.
Any ideas? Maybe the game doesn't like AMD chips (but Deus Ex was crashing for me on Intel Pentium III, so...)?

I can't see why that particular spec would cause problems. I've been using an Athlon XP 3000+ for a couple of years and it's fine. Would 64-bit cause problems? I don't know. What about CPU temperature? Is that all under control? No problems with other games? Got any pesky background programs running like virus scanners?

you mean 64-bit CPU? But its 64-bitness doesn't ever get used/comes into play in 32-bit software environment - it's a standard 32-bit CPU to a 32-bit OS (which I have) and 32-bit apps like T3DS.

yes, as I said, temps are all OK - CPU temp in the 3x C degrees range, so it's OK.

no, can play other other games (old and new) for hours no problem. Nothing else ever crashes (games, apps, OS).

None of these: only built-in MS firewall. Nothing 3rd party.
I just suspect buggy programming on IS dev(s) part.

I suppose that confirms the usual problems have been dealt with. I can't think of anything else offhand.
I encourage anyone else who has been playing TDS recently to stand forward, or put fingers to keyboard rather.

I can only add that I play with Fraps running to show framerate. But, I got it running along other games as well, without problems.
