Oh, and I forgot mention: I liked the song very much! :D I stayed in the musician's room for a while to listen it to the end :) Is it something already published, or is it special contest song? Is there a real band after that?
On the negative side I can only mention that the wife's diary didn't make good impression on me. I understand that it's part of the story describing host's emotional change, but still... there are children amongs players too :sly: I think that some level of violence+sexuality themes, even in texts, shouldn't be reached without warning...

ghost_in_the_shell, are you joking, really? :) Violence is everywhere in original Thief missions and 90% of FMs, small children shouldn't play Thief at all...

I know. I'm not joking, just saying that I felt a bit unconfortable about this text, also it's diference in my opinion between not very directly given vision of bad things going on in the City (murders, thievery, betrayals, false accusations, intriguing, undefined evil beings lurking in the shadow... - my own mission are probably the same like most in that matter) and quite expressive description of violent sexual activity. Maybe it's just me.
Oh, and don't disregard children presence in gaming world. They are among us in Thief exactly te same like in other communities. And when original games have some ratings which describe who should use them, then FMs do not. Little note in the readme file don't hurt if you feel that something isn't adequate for 12 or 14 years old...
If i become a father someday I will let my kid play Thief games, probably quite early, but I wouldn't give him this diary. So I would like to know that something like it is contained, other way I could miss it even if I play it before my kid to check it.
Just my general opinion.
And this diary is well written, all readables in this mission are good, not excepting this one. Maybe that's why it made so noticable impression on me and attracted my attention. If the readables were boring and bad written I probably wouldn't even bother to read the story :p
As I already said this is great mission:thumb:
Edit:
The more thinking about this text the more I'm intrigued what exactly I found so strong that I wouldn't give it to my not yet existing kids. And I think that the key to so strong impression is more complex - the aura of mental cold, and wifes sadness about the situation. I wan't to be well understood: I don't say that it's something wrong per se, It is not. That's just a picture of sadness and helplessness with a bit of violence which I considered too strong for kids.

Finished. Excellent mission :thumb:

I also finished it. Overall, a very good mission, great storyline. As for the gameplay, I also had trouble with the Sun mask, I knew which room it is in, I saw where it supposed to be, but I just could not find the way to get to it.
ghost, I think the original Thief game is rated Mature (17+), so a kid should not even have a copy of it. ;)

I have a box containing all 3 Thief games in my left hand (and typing this post only with my right hand :p) on which they are rated 12+ (I'm surprised myself!) and also it have only some pictures warning about violence and bad language (I don't really know how to call it), but not mentioning sexual themes at all...
Besides the details and taking only age limit under consideration as you (and I) can see those ratings varies (much) from country to country, so it's quite hard to determine what would need a special warning from FM author and what would not. From that point of view maybe I overreacted a bit by extending this side-topic, after Durinda D'Bry responded to my comment. I could just say "No I do not" to the question if I am joking, sorry
Anyway I don't want to introduce any more mess to the thread of this really good mission, so I think we can drop this side-topic before it change to off-topic :cheeky: It's not most important in the moment :)

I enjoyed this mission thoroughly. I liked everything about it - design, game play, and story. One thing I particularly liked is that there are quite a few places where you are exposed with no hiding places nearby, so it takes a planned route with good timing. It is classic Thief game play. I ghosted it, missing 150 loot, which I will attempt to find tomorrow.
In searching for the last 150 loot, I found one little bug. First, I got into the exit area before the ending sequence. After the ending sequence I saved before the exit and went back to find loot. Then, when I got the 100 loot in the lock box on the bed, the game suddenly ended. So, I guess I need to do my loot hunting after an earlier save, before the ending sequence.

I've got a problem:
I have the two masks and placed them in the library. I've got the dagger, enhanced it, I've got more than 2600 loot. I used the dagger to destroy the book, it did explode as expected and the objective was ticked of but:
As soon as the book explodes those two female wizzards die and the objective not to kill anyone fails and therefor the mission.
Am I doing something wrong or is this a bug?
Basil on 4/12/2008 at 12:25
I had that too.
I think it might be down to their alert status?
When I managed to destroy the book without being detected the game ended OK.
Random_Taffer on 4/12/2008 at 14:34
:weird:
I destroyed the book with the two precursors and mage right on my ass and it ended fine.
