you can crouch and use the sword too if you're quick, to hit stuff on the floor. Hit the attack button, then quickly hit crouch, and the swing will follow your crouch. That's one of the great realistic touches - is the weapon hits actually match the weapon, not in most games where it seems to be "Swing your weapon, an animation plays, and a damage trigger occurs in front of you".

In this game, getting into a swordfight is the last thing you want to do. Better off blackjacking.

yes indeed, but I have a spider-killing compulsion, and hitting the little buggers with a sword swing can be tricky.

Spiders...the bane of my existence:( . I run away from them shooting broadhead arrows like crazy, and then shiver in horror.
