I played Bloodwych a bit, but it didn't really stand out from Dungeon Master much in my mind, although I remember liking the multiplayer aspect and the ability to actually interact with NPCs and monsters beyond just fighting them.
As for issues getting past DM's graphics now, I completely understand, although between PC indie titles and smart phone games I personally find that cutting edge graphics aren't quite the necessity I once thought them to be. DM does have some slightly clunky interface issues that I mentioned, but for the most part they're manageable.
The actual core of the game, though--exploring a dungeon, solving puzzles, fighting monsters--still holds up beautifully.

Also, and I missed it earlier due to my excitement for old school RPGs: Holy Shit Stitch is Getting Married. Congratulations :)
If that's like, imminent it's going to be three TTLG weddings within three weeks

Congrats Stitch.
Great write ups. I'm avoiding some of it because I'm playing it atm.

Yeah congrats and thanks for the write-up, it was very entertaining to read and well-written.

So that's what it was called! I looked for it during my DM binge but didn't even know the name so I got nowhere.

Indulgent or not, I can assure you that they're highly entertaining and making me realise how much I probably missed when I played the game the first time.
Agreed. I was too hot and tired last night to read, but came back to it for my lunch break today. Great reading - and I've never played DM.

Jesus effing Christ, Stitch. You're getting married? A comic book deal, and now this? Congratulations! :D
Enjoyed reading your posts on DM, even if I'm not a fan of right-angle dungeon crawlers. One of these days I might even give it and LoG a go. :)

Thanks for the wedding and comic book well wishing :)
So: I decided to go and take what is basically a series of blog posts strewn across this forum and condense them into actual real blog posts.
And then expand upon them, because I talk too much.
Anyway, I just slapped up part one of six. There's not a whole lot that's new for anyone who has followed either this thread or the one regarding Grimrock, but I did add a bunch of pretty screenshots to fill it all out.
Edit: I'm just going to update this post as new entries are added, instead of needlessly bumping this thread.
Take a gander, if you want:

Okay, the whole damn thing is now live, so I thought I'd buhbuhbump this beast one last time. What started as "reformatting my forum posts as blog entries with added visuals" has morphed into something else entirely. The TTLG posts in this thread are definitely recognizable as the raw materials, but the blog series certainly does push things further. Plus I created cool headers for each article, because if I'm going to dubiously spend my spare time flooding the internet with navel-gazing words about a 25 year old CRPG, why not go all out?
